Freedom? In this place?

Post by weemadando »

http://www.freedomvillageusa.com/

I was watching the wonderful series Conspiracies last night and it was talking about the "battle" between the "satanists" and the "religious right".

All very amusing, then they showed this place, and I nearly vomited. Its disgusting, people (allegedly people anyhow) send their children here to be "de-programmed" from the "brain-washing" of modern culture?

Bollocks.

The petition to put God back in schools almost made me vomit.

I'm sure it's one of those "tough love" type places where they set the youngins loose in the wilderness to learn survival, teamwork, Christ's lovingkindness, and how to take councilor Smith's cock up your ass when he slips into your bunk at 1:00am.

Hehe. So they figure that God helped them out. Of course God put them in fucked up situations to begin with.

Remember, kids: if you fuck up your life, then God is testing you. But if you get your life back in order, then God is rewarding you. God wins either way. Or at least, the collection plate does.

Baptist and Pentecostal churches are shockingly unabashed about demanding money from their congregations. I remember going to a Pentecostal church a few times and noticing that in every single sermon, the preacher spent at least one quarter of his alloted time talking about the importance of tithing (giving one tenth of your income to the church) and quoting the Bible to suit.

At least that's one step closer to admitting they're merely a social institution inventing a need simply to make a profit on fools. The metaphysical Snakeoil  .
Hell, if I were around 3,000 years ago, convinced people they had an undetectable, yet gratuitous flaw, which only I could provide the solution for, I'd probably have a third of the world on a leash, instead.

Actually, come to think of it, some guy with a higher social standing and political power would probably intervene along the way and rewrite everything to fit his money needs.

I am reminded of the episode of the Simpsons, when Bart sells his soul to Millhouse for $5. "Why would they lie to us? what would they have to gain?" while Lovejoy is noisilly dumping the collection plate into a large change counter. :)

Ahem. Make very sure that you are aware of the practices of Satanists before you go comparing them to other people. If this site is any indication of the group as a whole (which it may or may not be,) there is no way to implicitly or explicitly link them to practices similar in method to those of Satanists.

That sound you hear would be the Give-A-Damn Meter flatlining.

...

I wasn't seriously commenting on their occult practices(or lack thereof). I was referring to the eeriely cult-like atmosphere the camp seems to be immersed in. And by Satanic I meant the sacrifice-virgin-princesses type, not the rebellious play-loud-music type or the Aleister Crowley type.

I know you weren't being serious. I'm just trying to get people to stop associating occultism with Satanism. They're different.

BTW, Satanists don't sacrifice virgins. That's insane. Nor do they listen to loud music. (Though "Mr. Crowley" was an AWESOME tune.) Satanists are simply hedonistic in every sense of the word. It's Narcissism in the shape of a pentagram. That's all. Well... Narcissism and the NRA all rolled up into one. Not bad people, but DEFINATELY people that you want to be on the good side of. If that makes sense.

Actually, I found this to be a rather good basic read on the Church of Satan. While I may not agree with what they say, I'm not quite so wigged out by the mention of Satanism anymore.
