In Memoriam: Colin Witz / Yosemite Bear

Post by Enigma »

I haven't seen YB active lately on Facebook but according to his profile, he has passed away. Is this true?

He's gone. :(

Yosemite Bear (Colin Witz) has passed away

Post by Alyrium Denryle »

Hello All,

It came to my attention on the SDN facebook page that Colin (Yosemite Bear) had been reported dead. I checked his facebook page, various family members report that he passed away in his sleep Tuesday night due to a heart attack.

Rest in peace man. We will miss you.

Damn. I knew him online from here and ASVS for over a decade. Funny, weird and yet, very imaginative. He will be very much missed. :(

Wow!

Was it related to his diabetes or was there an accident?

EDIT: According to the announcement at the top of the page he had a heart attack in his sleep. Given his age it likely is related to his diabetes.

I'm going to miss seeing him on these boards. :(

Farewell, you'll be missed...

How sad. New he had some health concerns but nothing to this extent. My sympathies to friends and family.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

I saw this on Facebook and hoped it was a mistake, sadly I was wrong.

Colin was an awesomely unique individual and this place, especially BotM won't be the same without him.
