Ah, yes. Kill terrorism at it's source! Thought must cease!

I keep telling everyone ... just outlaw literacy and no one will be able to read the manual on how to fly a plane or build a bomb. This is such an easy solution, and it makes so much more sense.

They must use Microsoft Flight Simulator to practice that.
In the Australian version, you can fly planes into the Sydney Harbour Bridge and wipe out half of it. Not any more though.

3 years for downloading music?! Are these people fucking insane?! Like we need more small-time criminals filling up federal fucking prisons. Wouldn't want to have too much room left over for rapists and serial killers, would we?
Its not the rapists and serial killers... Its the impeached/disgraced politicians who are going to get gaoled for taking bribes from the music execs...

Ha! Taking bribes from major corporations is not only allowed, but it is upheld as part of the American Way. Didn't you notice that during the campaign finance reform debate, it was pitched as a form of freedom of expression? Apparently, it's "expression" to donate millions of dollars to some politician's campaign in return for him fucking over the voters once he's in office to repay you.

Corruption is going to be inevitable in a system as large as the U.S. government. The concerns of the campaign finance reformers are valid, but passing incumbency protection legislation and forcing the taxpayers to foot the bill for extravagant campaigns, their solutions to the problem, are not.

I would think that the solution to the problem is to gut the power of government to where it cannot subsidize private interest at the expense of everyone else.

I should also add that the Constitution doesn't allow for Congress to regulate campaigns. Only elections. Not that anyone cares, the Constitution is just some old document that is occassionally pulled out primarily for the purpose of attacking a member of an opposing party for ignoring it (both parties do this, so I'm not pointing fingers).

"Bribe" is such a harsh term. I believe the proper term is "lobbying." :)

Thats why Microshit is still around.

A few hundred thousand supporting Ashcroft in his failure to defeat a dead man.

Also, the PM is trying to make it illegal for corporations to fund campaigns. Or atleast limit them to the low thousands, as well as personal donations to the hundreds.

Speaking of which I should post the pics of me doing an "under the bridge" in a 747-400 (fully laden with all realism and difficulty setting at max).

That was spectacular. Then I banked around and was trying to go for a "between the buildings" when it stalled and eliminated what I'm guessing would have been 20-30 city blocks in massive death cart-wheel -> slide -> grind -> crunch.

Nah, it's wrong for the theme. I'd suggest The Sacred War, or The Sacred Lenin Banner. Or perhaps just the Soviet National Anthem.

Well, they might have been smaller stores that couldn't compete. Either that or the RIAA didn't think they were charging enough.

As for the three-year jail term for pirating music: What the hell? I'm sure the Anti-Porn guy looked at that and said "That's outrageous!". Hopefully, that idea will never see the light of day.

They'll try to pitch it to lawmakers with the same spiel they used for the DMCA: "We know it's completely unreasonable, but we promise to be judicious in our application of this law. So give us the unreasonable fucking law, and we'll promise not to overuse it unless we feel like making an example of somebody. Oh, and here's some money for your campaign."

Damn, I wished the planes crashed into the capitol when Congress was in session, like in the Tom Clancy book, and when entertainment executives were in the WTC. Sure, wouldn't solve anything, but...

I read something similar in the local newpaper just yesterday. (I'm in Singapore btw). I thought it was quite possible. I don't know about in US, but piracy is a bigger problem in this region. Just go to Malaysia say, and you can find a lot of shops selling pirated VCDs, software and stuff boldly in the open. In Singapore, I still see vendors springing up every now and then, setting up temporary shops or tables out in a secluded alley to sell this stuff. People around here buy them, and buy them in large amounts.

The news article does make me wonder if this is possibly one way the terrorist in this region finance themselves.

The difference is, in SE Asia there are entire factories producing bootleg copies of copyrighted material and selling them. This cockknocker wants to throw college kids in jail for three years for downloading MP3s off Kazaa, a phenonomon which is, frankly, the least of the music industry's worries right now.
