That single cannon on the top at the back reminds me of a German 88
Baltar: "I don't want to miss a moment of the last Battlestar's destruction!"
Centurion: "Sir, I really think you should look at the other Battlestar."
Baltar: "What are you babbling about other...it's impossible!"
Centurion: "No. It is a Battlestar."
Corrax Entry 7:17: So you walk eternally through the shadow realms, standing against evil where all others falter. May your thirst for retribution never quench, may the blood on your sword never dry, and may we never need you again.

If only all Star Wars authors gave it as much thought as you do, the world would be a much better placefractalsponge1 wrote: What role does this thing play? I pointed out well back that this was mostly a "look cool" project, with very limited applications. Still, I do have an idea for what it would be used for in my head, which I always try to have for everything I build, no matter how outlandish
I hope this guy makes an appearance in Episode VII, or at the very least get into an appendix of SW:EGTW

This is pretty much done. Looking for a name, some more angles for renders, and the next project...

Hmmm, It's a custom's ship...Why not look to famous Sloops for names? Wikipedia suggests Vulture, Resolution, Speedy, things of that nature.
Or some sort of flying animal-Mynock, Hawk-bat, something like that.

If a black-hawk flies over a light show and is not harmed, does that make it immune to lasers?

Re: Something big
Something new.
Mostly just playing with shapes at the moment. Looking for something ~130 meters long, volume >half Corellian Corvette. Mid e18W reactor output. Gunship/sloop - barely corvette. I was thinking cheap light ship for local defense roles, more purpose-built for military roles but in the same rough class as a c70 Charger conversion. Kind of thing that would get churned out in the millions for planetary government, paramilitary, customs roles. Slow hyperdrive, moderate endurance, but would deploy for intra-sector escort roles at most. Acceleration decent but not great, ~2700g. Good enough against converted freighters and the like, would be run down in short order by a real warship.
Crew 30-60, mostly weapons and engineering. No troops, no fighters. Lieutenant's command. Armament probably going to be double LTL like a Corellian Corvette in the flank sockets, 2 twin ultra-light turbolaser/heavy lasers dorsal, maybe a third mounting on the spine.
Lots of work to do on this.

Re: Something big
Defiantly want a third turret on either the neck area or the bridge itself for covering that area of the firing arcs, as it is the two current turrets are pretty limited in where they can shoot.

Re: Something big
My latest diversion, a TIE Hunter (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/TIE_Hunter) - apparently it only appeared in the Rogue Squadron games, but it's a pretty cool design, if derivative. Basically it ends up being an Avenger-lite - hyperdrive, shields, fairly heavy armament including warhead launchers, but smaller, slower, and thus, cheaper. I'm going with it as sort of a strike-fighter type TIE equivalent to the XW.

Sweet, looks like a TIE Defender Lite
I'd like to see your take on Zsinj's TIE Phantom sometime. Oh, and a Mon Cal cruiser would be nice

Ironically, the TIE Hunter pretty well is a TIE Defender-lite
Same weaponry and everything (presuming I'm remembering Rouge Squadron 3 right).

Re: Something big
Some new lines to match reference a little better:
This is also modified to allow for the folded configuration I had in mind, whereas the old build didn't have the clearances necessary.
This has the happy side effect of pushing the wings back, which I think helps things a bit with proportions.
I think armament wise, we're looking at two ion cannon, two heavy lasers. I'm still thinking about where to put them all, but I think one each in the wing roots is making a lot of sense at the moment. Game mechanics (and even game graphics, given the quality) are not going to be strictly followed for this one. This thing won't have the power or radiator area of an Avenger, and so shouldn't be sporting much more than the standard setup we are used to seeing in the Avenger. Not that I think the 4 wingtip lasers thing is necessarily the limit for the Avenger, given the presence of a potentially ten-gun Interceptor, but that's a different story.
"S-foils" here are basically an attempt to get more radiator area in a way that doesn't compromise storage. Example in storage configuration:

Re: Something big
If this is a "Smaller, slimmer, cheaper" version of a TIE-Defender, not sure just how heavily armed it can be.
I mean if your doing "slimmer" one would think it would have a greatly reduced reactor output.
I'd imagine either you have 'thinner' shields and more blasters, or lighter blasters and perhaps 'normal' shields, but not both.
That said I do LOVE the look of it, especially being able to fold in it's wings like that,

Re: Something big
Yes, I added the pieces for it the past year. I suppose that you know how the model was added to your SOASE Rebellion mod by Lavo few months ago. A great model the new Rejuvenator, I was looking for it for years.evillejedi wrote:And a modified version of my Nebula model for the Endurance
The bigger starship from the center is the Assertor designed by Fractalsponge.Nomada_Firefox, Is that some sort of modified Executor in that pic?
Very good the TIE-Hunter. I have a one model added at my FOC mod made by a guy named minilogoguy18 from some time ago. It is a very strange design.
With the wings closed, I made it. I do not know how it should be but when I made it, it was the most logic (I did not make the model but I rigged it for the game).

Re: Something big
The odd thing about the TIE Hunter in the game, is it really does fit the 'Defender' role. The blasters, ion cannons, and torpedoes for instance. Realistically though, it shouldn't be able to carry that much/that effective firepower. Considering the size and (relative) lack of radiator space. That's just my take on it though.
Loving the model too.

Re: Something big
Not sure about the game, having never touched it. Two lasers/two ion isn't unreasonable though - consider the Avenger is nominally a 4-gun fighter, and packs all of the Hunter's equipment on a frame that isn't dramatically bigger. Note also the 10-gun Interceptor variant. I'm sure you'd have to trade rate of fire/dissipation rate of shields to deal with a smaller powerplant and less radiator space, but the Hunter has *space* for all the equipment it's supposed to carry - just maybe not as potent versions of all of it as the superiority fighters in the Avenger/Defender class.Skywalker_T-65 wrote:The odd thing about the TIE Hunter in the game, is it really does fit the 'Defender' role. I can not say that it closes the wings as I made. But your version is more original, I like it, I will put it at my mind if you have not problems with it when I make a upgrade if I find some of free time for this. For the record, I *really* don't like the game version of the S-foil...
Yes and no with it, just a point, what is the size for these weapons at sw universe? because if we take a look at films, these weapons at fighters do not need a big size.is it really does fit the 'Defender' role.
