This is presumably for Macs? I don't have one, but Kristoffer has a Mac and I think so does Johan K, so it may well be. I can ask, but I don't know. Support for stuff like that may appear later in a patch if it doesn't appear at release, but I really cannot promise anything in this regard.

Yes, for macs (specifically, retina macbook pros) - Apple offers reasonable tools to support it without much pain, but it depends on the structure of the specific software that is being adapted; my concern was mostly for nice font rendering.

Thanks for the clarification. I asked about this in the beta, but the response I got indicated that Mac support so far is standard. Johan hasn't tried the game out on a retina Mac and I have no idea if any of the Macs involved in the beta test are retina machines. But even with standard support it looks pretty damn good, from what I've seen on the Mac of a friend who is involved in the beta.

It is possible to simulate HiDPI resolutions on any reasonably high resolution display using Quartz Debug, but given the size of the team it's probably not a good idea to invest time and effort in this (the intersection between the set of people with retina macs and the set of people that like niche turn based strategy games might be vanishingly small).

Beta version 3.99e is out for those who preordered the game. Note that it is a beta and some last minute mechanic changes may cause problems. I suggest installing through the standalone installer from Desura, not the Desura client.

Random impressions from v3.99f:

Protection values seem to have decreased. Ulm black steel troops are only in the high teens now.

I like the elimination of the tax percentages. They were gamey and added unnecessary micro. Not being able to quickly reduce unrest through low taxes represents a major nerf bat beatdown for blood nations, though.

The new PD system that shows you exactly what you get with a given # of points is probably my favorite addition.

The auto-research for new mages and "End Turn" dialogue that warns when you have commanders set to Defend are a couple of small changes that make turns a lot smoother.

Can hardly wait for the release version and later for the CBM mod to be ported.
