I think this site is great for what it means. To me, it means that humans fight over ANYTHING. I mean, look at what we'd be prepared to fight over in the past, territory, resources, women (above and beyond all others). Made up gods, and now, even made up space ships, i think it's really quite funny and not as sad as some people would make it out to be. Anyone got any thoughts on just how argumentative we are as a species?

I think that this site serves as a practice forum for debating issues in real life. I know I've learned a lot in BBS forums (and in the past week I've found out that I've still a lot to learn!) about debating and making counter-arguments.

As for humanity as a whole, yes, I think we are argumentative. But we have to be. If we don't stand up for ourselves, who will stand up on our behalf? Besides, you never know when you'll meet one of those politicians who doesn't know how to debate, effectively counter one of their positions, gain public attention, and become the next in line for President.

I'm probably the only person that will ever say this, but I wouldn't mind slamming Kelly Osbourne. Nice boobs. I don't go for the super-skinny fake-boobed ultra-tanned shallow supermarket blondes.

What's wrong with being argumentative? Only through vocal, unrestricted debate can the truth be determined. Polite consensus achieves precisely jack shit, unless you consider "preservation of the status quo" to be an accomplishment.

To equate violence/conflict/destruction with argumentative behaviour is completely unfair. Public discourse, whether it be polite, rude, or downright inflammatory, is completely harmless as long as it remains purely in the realm of discussion (as opposed to real-life attacks).

Being somewhat of a sadist considering modern morality's stance on physical combat, I don't mind violence. It has been with us forever, it will be with us forever. I just thought of this a few hours ago: War is the ultimate extreme sport. My personal opinion on why we have so many peaceniks nowadays is because of warfare not being as personal anymore... It's lock and load and giant steel dragons doing all the fighting these days.
