I know that back in the sixties or some such decade there was a popular model of the moon which had it being riddled with lava tubes, which theoretically would be ideal for setting up a colony in.
Is this still a thing that we believe is likely, or has the model been supplanted since?

I thought gravimetric scans of the surface busted this theory.

Re: lunar lava tubes
Don't know about the moon, but I've heard some evidence for lava tubes on Mars. Specifically that some weird holes in the ground of been spotted from orbit which are thought by some to be lava tubes where the roof has caved in. Havn't heard anything recent about it though.
Basically you have three states of legality in Ireland. First you have all this stuff here which is "That's grand", then you get into this stuff which is "Ah now, don't push it'" and finally you get to "Right, you're taking the piss"
