Dragon Age:Origin question (spoilers)

Post by Lord Revan »

Just a quick and somewhat spoiler free question about DA:O, when playing the city elf backstory Spoiler
do you absolutely have to leave the scumbag you face at the end of that dungeon alive to win the landsmeet later or can you still kill him?

Spoiler
You can kill him dead and enjoy every second of it. You don't need his vote later on, as talking to Arl Wulf and informing Arl Alfstanna about her brother in Howes dungeon nets you two.

Also, taking the gold not only makes Shianni hate you forever, but makes your father disown you.
Never underestimate the ingenuity and cruelty of the Irish.

Spoiler
thank god as even though I'm straight male myself, I prefer playing females in DA as they tend to be somewhat better written and acted then males, so letting that rapist live after what he did or was planning to do, just doesn't sit right with me.

It's been a while since I played DA:O... Spoiler
but I don't think he's much of an issue during the Landsmeet.
As long as you
  • Don't mention that Loghain left Cailen to die
  • Speak with the Arl in the Tavern, Wolf I think, and tell Loghain that the Blight is the real enemy, not Orleas
  • Finish Tortured Nobles Mission and mentioning Arl Howe's dungeon
  • Finish the Lost Templar Quest and mention the Assassination attempt. You need to talk to someone in a cell... Imeric or something.
  • Finish Trial of the Crows Quest line.
  • Support Anora for a vote.
One person will automatically vote against you, another for you.

Freeing Vaughn earns you a single vote.

So, test the shiny knife you found on him.

No guarantees. No cookies.

Spoiler
I have killed the hell of that little bastard and still won the Landsmeet.

Ain't nothing wrong with cross-playing. If the game gives me a choice I play a woman 90% of the time, and I freely admit to having no idea why whatsoever. (Although with Mass Effect I use the excuse that Jennifer Hale is a better voice actor than Mark Meer.)

Also, if you do kill the little shit, there's a funny bit when you meet King Cailan where you can very matter-of-factly splash some cold water on his face that maybe his kingdom isn't the idyllic fairytale place he seems to think it is. Goes something like:

Cailan: So how are things in the Alienage?
Warden: I killed an arl's son for raping my cousin.
Cailan: You... whaaaaat?
Star Carrier by Ian Douglas: Analysis and Talkback

The Vortex Empire: I think the real question is obviously how a supervolcano eruption wiping out vast swathes of the country would affect the 2016 election.
Borgholio: The GOP would blame Obama and use the subsequent nuclear winter to debunk global warming.
