Which is still fucking stupidDurran Korr wrote:The only possible explanation I can think of for the aliens being as fucking stupid as they were is because they had a warrior culture, and going into a dangerous environment unarmed was part of some kind of ritual.

Frankly, I'm not afraid of aliens who can be defeated by pissing on them.
Do not meddle in the affairs of insomniacs, for they are cranky and can do things to you while you sleep.

Actually, a reason was sort of given for the aliens' lack of weaponry, although it's also fucking stupid. If the book Mel Gibson's son was reading is to be trusted, the aliens won't take on humanity in a high-tech air and land war because they fear humanity would resort to nukes if it is defeated and make the planet useless. However, this still doesn't make sense since the aliens still fully intend to win, unarmed or not. So, assuming that their unarmed, naked troops can avoid getting their asses kicked by a bunch of kids with Super Soakers and actually conquer Earth (yeah right), then humanity is STILL beaten, and would STILL use the nukes anyway in desperation.

Anyone notice that M. Night Shaymalan has used this stupid water weakness in two consecutive movies? What's the deal? In both cases, it made no sense to use it.
In Unbreakable, drowning was supposed to be Bruce Willis' "kryptonite." I was under the impression that a superhero's weakness should be something unique to him, therefore actually being "his" weakness, instead of something that would affect EVERYONE equally. The excuse that Willis sucked water in faster than most people was unexplained and made no sense.
And of course, in Signs, it was inconceivable how a supposedly advanced alien civilzation could be so stupid as to try to conquer a mostly water-covered planet with no environmental protection.

Well, David Dunn had a bad experience with water and can't swim too well after it, plus it was meant to be based in reality, it's not like Shyamalan could just make up some new element that would harm him, that would be stretching too far.Jim Raynor wrote:Anyone notice that M. Unbreakable is by far his best piece I reckon, I much prefer it to The Sixth Sense and you can't beat James Newton-Howard's music for either films ("The Orange Man" especially).
