BREAKING: 5 story building collapse in Harlem

Long story short? It just happened within the last hour, and nobody's sure quite what caused it yet. But there's reports of an explosion. Pictures in the link.

Hundreds of New York City firefighters descended on East Harlem in New York on Wednesday morning, a building reportedly exploded, collasped, and then burst into flames. The accident happened shortly before 10 a.m. on 116th Street and Park Ave., just feet away from the overground Metro North train lines.

According to NBC New York, witnesses reported an explosion and firefighters are currently on the scene. Here are a few photos of the scene, which looks not unlike a disaster movie:

There are reports of some injured being transported to hospitals, but no word on their conditions yet. Metro North was suspending service in the area while first responders continue to assess the damage. We'll keep this post updated as new details come in.

Shit, I read one of the buildings that fell was an apartment building situated over a piano shop. 16 injuries confirmed so far, 4 of them serious and one fatality. Jesus, this is terrible.

One of the victims was a campus police officer at Hunter college, so I kind of remember her. She was nice :(

Also, 7 confirmed dead now and it's still expected to rise.
