We should, but it also bears mentioning that just because someone finds it funny (or it was intended as a joke) doesn't mean that it's not reinforcing bigotry. Honestly though, if it had been anything other than this joke I don't think anyone would have bothered to get all upset, Rape Culture seems to be the flavor of the month (or few months) when it comes to social awareness. Not that I think that's bad, but it always ends up being an angry hornet's nest when someone triggers the reaction, while other things are allowed to slide by.

Saying that a female politician needs to be sexually assaulted every time she says something is of course furthering rape culture. And if you say, "well, dear, those same jokes are made against males all the time" I have to remind you of the thing called power differential as well as historical reality: women were and are still not only disproportionally more likely to be victims of rape they're also more likely to be blamed for it with the perpetrator going off lightly or even scot-free. Jokes about molesting women sexually contribute to the continuation of this state of affairs.

It's the same reason making lynching jokes about african-americans is still in bad taste and why "cracker" carries nowhere near the weight that "nigger" does. White, able-bodied and heteronormative males are privileged. This should never bee overlooked or forgotten.
