Writing the God stuff out of Battle Hymn of the Republic would make a cool anthem. But I'm a Georgia fan, so I'm partial to that one.

I don't personally think that "The Star Spangled Banner" celebrates America as well as some of the other patriotic songs we have. Plus it's a bitch to sing. I don't think I'd mind if it was changed to "America the Beautiful" or something.

Not that this is really an issue, of course. *shrugs*

At least the Banner is more interesting than "Advance, Australia Fair." Bleh.

Yes, I like it as well. I often catch myself signing it. It'd make a good anthem minus the God parts.

The Star Spangled Banner is a great song, there is no need to explain it. However, if a tank battallion wants to blast Imperial March on their radios as they race across Iraq, then so be it.

To those who think the anthem should be changed to Imperial March. How would you like to have people stand and place their hands on their chests in attention to the American flag at sporting events and suddenly Imperial March is played. Hell, even the Olympics. A national Anthem is supossed to embody more then just the military might of a country. It must contain the spirit and show its history.

The Star Spangled Banner might be a bitch of a song to sing, but when you get a really good singer to do the song, it comes out so good that it makes you proud to be an American and have that flag. Imperial March will do no such thing.

Needless to say you've seen the Evangelion AMV for that song feat. Gendo Ikari? Its quite entertaining, problem is that the Republicans holding office are supposedly the moral majority and soooo christian. (fuck dat shit)

"Do the Evolution" would fit nice, as would MacFarlanes accompanying animations.

Machine head would be fun, team that up with some CNN coverage. And of course, Bombs over Baghdad.
