I realize this, but take Mad's example.. It would be more realistic for Nina to do what she does in Tekken than for Trinity to do what she does in the Matrix, would it not?Durran Korr wrote:Are we talking about real-world combat or video game combat? For example, in C&C, a relatively small squad of guys with guns can take down a tank; obviously, this would not be the case in real life. You have to take Nina out of the video game for her to fight in the real world, just as you have taken Trinity out of the Matrix.

Well, living and working on a ship like the Nebuchadnezzar would likely be physically strenuous to an extent. Lots of lifting and such, I would think. Also, we saw Neo's muscles being rebuilt after being unplugged, indicating that the humans have the technology to build muscles relatively quickly.Mad wrote:I think that's the key factor. How much time would people spend training outside the Matrix when all their hand-to-hand battles take place inside computer programs where mental speed appears to matter more than phsyical conditioning.Durran Korr wrote:It all depends on how physically fit Trinity is outside of the Matrix, which is something of an unknown.
Physical conditioning may help endurance, but I don't see how anyone from The Matrix would put themselves to the level of physical conditoning that someone who fights outside the Matrix would.
Basically, Trinity knows how to throw a kick, but will her body allow her to pull it off?
If Trinity does train for fighting outside of the Matrix, then she should be able to win; otherwise, I don't think her body will be able to pull off the moves she's used to performing when jacked in.
Oh, and Kasumi takes 'em both out.
One thing that bugged me a bit from the Matrix, come to think of it; Morpheus tells Neo that he has never used his muscles before during his operation after being unplugged. Why would this be; I would think, for all intents and purposes, that the brain would still send signals to the muscles in the body, causing them to contract and relax accordingly, thus building up the muscles.

Yes, but still fairly unrealistic. Chain attacks are likely not going to work out well in reality; real fighters do not fight with a number of pre-determined moves and combinations, they have to improvise more often than not. Trinity is likely the superior in this area.verilon wrote:I realize this, but take Mad's example.. Note: Nina can sometimes be quick to break the neck.
And Iggy has a point.. Nina has surpassed Trinity by far in the realm of experience. The Tekken series (1-4) lasts a total of over a decade, almost two, maybe more (I'm too tired to check RIGHT NOW).

Well she hasn't been active that long...but she has more killing experience since according to Namco she's been doing it since 18(the whole Tekken has gone on for quite a few years...but Nina slept for a good chunk of it...between Tekken 2-3)

The hardware they have plugged into the humans must intercept the signals sent from the brain to body and vis versa.Durran Korr wrote:One thing that bugged me a bit from the Matrix, come to think of it; Morpheus tells Neo that he has never used his muscles before during his operation after being unplugged. The machinery the Matrix uses probeble doesnt allow any 'leakage' of signals sent from the brain to reach the body.
The unplugged simple have shoddy/lesser equipment, which is why some signal leakage occurs.

It was between 3 and 4, and it was only 2 years.Ghost Rider wrote:Well she hasn't been active that long...but she has more killing experience since according to Namco she's been doing it since 18(the whole Tekken has gone on for quite a few years...but Nina slept for a good chunk of it...between Tekken 2-3)
Durran - Wouldn't it only be that the physical training in the real world be so they could perform daily tasks? I mean, look at the other guys that are all built up (mmm... droolage...) - they chose to build themselves that way, not the other way around. And as far as I know, it would be that they were built into that system the way they were when they chose to undertake the task, yes? Furthermore, there's little to no need for physical training outside the Matrix -- which is a computer program. I would think that whatever happens inside the Matrix really doesn't have a lot to do with their physocal entities outside the Matrix, as it is purely a mindgame (henc, the plugging and unplugging).
If that IS the case, then Nina has quite an advantage in this, as she is physicallt fit, and trained, whereas Trinity (although not in bad shape) would not be able to keep up or be able to pull off what she does in the Matrix. And although Nina's chain moves would be quite easily less possible in the real world, she is still quick to break limbs, doing rollovers into legbreakers, armbreakers, and even neckbreakers.
