Palin & NRA at it again - "Let's Baptize Terrorists"

Post by Irbis »

Palin: 'Waterboarding Is How We Baptize Terrorists'

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) says she wouldn't be afraid to torture terrorists if she were president.

"C'mon! Enemies who would utterly annihilate America, they would obviously have information on plots. They carry out jihad. Oh, but you can’t offend them. Can’t make them feel uncomfortable, not even a smidgen," Palin said on Saturday during a speech at the National Rifle Association's "Stand And Fight" rally. "Well, if I were in charge, they would know that waterboarding is how we baptize terrorists."

During her speech, Palin criticized the Obama administration's national security policy, which she said pokes, "our allies in the eye, calling them adversaries, instead of putting the fear of God in our enemies" according to CBS News.

The rally, held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, was part of the NRA's annual meeting.

Palin also warned the crowd that there are increased efforts to strip their gun rights. She said that Obama is trying to use gun control policy to control Americans.

"If you control oil, you control an economy. If you control money, you control commerce," she said. "But if you control arms, you control the people, and that is what they're trying to do."
And another quote [link]:
In her speech, Palin also said the Washington insiders who called the 2009 mass shooting at Fort Hood a case of workplace violence “don’t know what is right.” That shooting was carried out by Maj. Nidal Hassan.

“Not when that evil Muslim terrorist Major Hassan massacres his fellow military soldiers at Fort Hood,” she said.

Characterizing Hassan, “that devil” as a ‘disgruntled employee,’” is hypocritical, said Palin.

Palin called liberals hypocrites for their stance on issues varying from gun control to torture at the NRA event that was part of the organization’s 2014 convention.

But she backtracked later, saying, “Not all intolerant anti-freedom leftist liberals are hypocrites.”

“I’m kidding,” she said. “Yes, they are.”

Palin told the crowd that “guys like” Sen. Al Franken and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid “are not satisfied with just taking your money and your job and your truck and your property and your rights and your healthcare. Those Democrats trying to get all ‘Pelosi’ on ya, and you’re not gonna have it!” she said, referring to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Palin accused the Democrats of pursuing “policies that poke our allies in the eye and coddle adversaries instead of putting the fear of God in our enemies.”
Why, I see no reason why anyone could have problems with NRA and other nutters who collectively call themselves "law abiding citizuns". No reason whatsoever

That raises questions: Is she publishing a new book or a new show?

I think she misspoke on that point: She probably meant she wouldn't be afraid of telling everyone about torturing. I don't think Obama is to shy about that, too. Or does he just kill them?

You know it's a bad sign when politicians look at Obama's attitude to terrorists and criticise it for not being extreme enough.

I gotta admit, I'm pretty disappointed that it turned out Palin wasn't literally calling for forced baptism of terrorists to make them accept Christ.

If someone in the media were feeling really vicious, they could say that Sarah Palin just called baptism a form of torture. You could spin a whole set of memes on the idea.

Substitute just a few words and she sounds just like one of those muslim fundamentalist hate preachers. To think that this madwoman was almost just one heart attack away from the american presidency...

To me the most terrifying thing isn't that she got that close. It's that there are enough people who actually believe this shit to get her elected in the first place and kept in office.

I don't believe she's actually held an elected office since she quit to run as VP along McCain back in 08.

Then ignore the part about staying office, and just see the part about getting elected in the first place. And she's hardly the only elected nutjob in America.

One thought is that if they are not terrorists, they may very well be when they get done.

To what end? Any decent person can read this article and determine that Sarah Palin is an insane sociopath and/or just trying to rile up and already batshit crazy conservative base. Anyone who buys it wouldn't give a shit about equating baptism with torture because non-Christians are fucking scum who can be walked all over anyways. Shit, even non-conservative Christians aren't "true" Christians or Americans to them and are deserving of almost as much scorn. Maybe more so since they'd be considered traitors.

Honestly, I'm kind of glad the base has cultivated such a shitty group of voters with (very) thinly veiled racism and bigotry because it makes it almost impossible to woo non-white non-fire-and-brimstone Christians who would otherwise vote a straight Republican ticket, thus making it unlikely they can retain power except through gerry-mandering and creating bastions of "good and moral American Freedom!"

I guess I'll see how stupid my post is come 2016.

This is a nitpick, but she didn't quit to run for VP. She was governor right up until she quit to be a talking head on Fox a few months after the election.

Point. But the key thing is she hasn't held office since then.:v

The NRA still has too many old fat white guys in the PR department. They are fixing it though. Slowly.

Seriously, who cares. Palin is a joke. At this point quoting the next insane shit she spews is pretty much equivalent to quoting the latest stupid remark from Rush Limbaugh. Not even news-worthy.

The problem is enough people still listen to both of those idiots that you can't just ignore them and hope they go away.

Quite right, the Teapotties and other assorted right wing loons might be a vocal minority, but they are not just a very loud vocal minority, but one both major parties for whatever reason think they have to cater to to differing extends. Occupy Wallstreet? "Pfft, get a job ya' lazy bums!" Gun waving right wing trailer trash? "O my, better see to it I remain on their good side!"
