This is gonna sound very much like confirmation bias, but...called it. I worked in the service industry until very recently, and there was no way in hell I could see anybody in the same job doing this. I can't speak for everyone of course, but it felt very 'off' to me.

Well shit. That is low. In this case, good thing KFC is a big corporation with high-priced lawyers. While I'm pleased the child got needed surgery, the grandmother should be crucified.
On the plus side the kid got the surgery she needed, and her circumstance hopefully now has the attention of the relevant authorities. If all of that comes at the cost of $30,000 from a massive corporation and the charity of the public, I call that a win.

It has become clear to me in the previous days that any attempts at reconciliation and explanation with the community here has failed. I have tried my best. I really have. I pored my heart out trying. But it was all for nothing.

Now there is only one thing left to do. Let us see if I can sum up the strength needed to end things once and for all.
This is sad. I've lost my job and am struggling to make ends meet as I try to find a new one and someone can pull this kind of stuff. Of course my problem is that I'm too stubborn to go around asking for money. It's not that I haven't gotten help but they had to trick me into admitting I was struggling.

It is a positive that while the situation was a fraud the girl is at least going to get the medical care she needs.
That's pretty much the only positive in this situation. I find it somewhat conflicting where I feel that I'm glad the money was available to give her the help she needs, but it was done via dishonest means. If it wasn't available, she wouldn't have had her surgeries but at least honesty and integrity would be maintained.
