If I recall correctly, "Howard The Duck" consisted largely of a midget in a duck suit running around and spouting lots of bizarre puns involving the word "duck."

Mantis kung-fu, the style the link leads to.SHODAN wrote:Even if the answer is painfully obvious to the rest of the world, I cant see it: monkey kung-fu or Howard the duck thread hijack?IG-88E wrote:*nod* I've seen it in action. It's quite effective when used right.
I've seen Crab, Snake, Crane, Monkey, Praying Mantis, and Tiger. How many animals now have their own kung fu variants named after them??
Crab style requires one flank towards your opponent, legs spread, knees bent, with hands up near the face. It's usually seen being used by someone who favors one side of their body.
Snake can be pretty gruesome, because many of the hand blows aim for the eyes or throat, and can quickly incapacitate an unwary opponent.
Crane focuses more on the legs, with the arms up in the air (like Daniel-san from Karate Kid). It look funky, but if the user has good lower body strength, it can be effective.
Monkey looks strange, and easy to pull off, but it's actually quite diffcult (I've tried). It requires an astonishing amount of energy to keep hopping around your opponent and moving your arms, while waiting for an opening.
Mantis, as described in the link above, uses a lot of arm movements that can quickly bring down an opponent. Trust me, it's not pleasant to be on the recieving end of some of those attacks.
Tiger is VERY focused on slashing attacks from the hands. Generally, the target is the opponent's face.

so Darth Wong knows the ancient art of monkey kung-fu?
Sounds like Darth Wong to meWong spent the next several years learning all that his teacher had to teach him. Having been born to a wealthy family Wong had the opportunity to practice praying mantis as a recreation, developing his art to an advanced level.

In the series Kung Fu: The Legend Continues they seem to mix and or confuse the styles, they seem to call it shaolin and it's based on the crane or something, but in reality wasn't Shaolin a precursor(one that required alot of physical power I am told) to the Mantis technuiqe that was further added on to with the Monkey technquie?

Hollywood tends not to be a good place to learn the proper names of fighting styles. However, a lot of fighting styles tend to mix and match new moves into area they previously were lacking in their own styles.HDS wrote:In the series Kung Fu: The Legend Continues they seem to mix and or confuse the styles, they seem to call it shaolin and it's based on the crane or something, but in reality wasn't Shaolin a precursor(one that required alot of physical power I am told) to the Mantis technuiqe that was further added on to with the Monkey technquie?

The original kung-fu was "invented" by the shaolin monks.
All the animal-styles developed from the shaolin style.
