I still can't really find words to express it myself. I knew and remembere talking to Nitram long ago during the early days of the board and the pre-SDN ASVS era. We sorta fell out of communication and I feel bad about that, honestly, but I still liked the guy. I took this long to come and speak because I was hoping the appropriate words would come... but they don't. Sorry, wish I was more eloquent about this, but I miss him.

Belated as well, but my condolences.

There is a tradition in the SCA's two week long event we call Pennsic War. A small boat is built of flamable materials and taken to Cooper's Lake in the middle of the campground. As the procession is made, people are encouraged to add (flamable) tokens symbolizing a Scadian who died since the last Pennsic. The boat is then floated on the lake, and set aflame, sending those we lost into the afterlife.

If I had been there, I would have done this. In my place, my brother did the deed. He will be bringing me the match that he used to light the fire. The boat burnt well and burnt brightly before sinking into the lake.

Farewell my love, my handsome man, my k'chara. I miss you so much.

One of Martin's gaming and online friends, who had been trying to find the words to say how she felt.

(For Martin Kemmish)

Not so long ago when you were ill
Hospital-bound and cranky
I told you this: that you were not allowed
To predecease me
That I would drag you back
Just so I could yell at you
And throttle you properly myself
For daring to leave us before your time.
Forgive me my friend
For this broken promise:
That this limited, mortal body
Cannot transcend time and space
Impotent fists beating, futile
At the barrier between us
Thin as gauze, impenetrable as sorrow
Where you stand –
So near, yet so far
Your outstretched hand
Passing through my clenched one
Like a sigh in a storm.

That's beautiful.

It was deactivated to prevent tampering. You can still search for him as author, though.

I asked that his account be deleted. And as this has been two months since his departure, I humbly ask that this tribute thread be unStickied

Unto Mine Husband.

My dearest Lord, who hath gone before
I miss your laughter and your smile
I miss our discussions and rapport
And most of all I miss your guile.

I see your face in dreams, beloved
Yet each time my heart doth call thee
My mind reminds me of the truth prov'd
Death has taken you far from me.

You voice grows faint inside my mind
Our debates and agreements now grow blurred
I strain to recall your words -- so refined
How I miss what can't be heard!

Your ashes sit upon the mantel
I have no heart to cast you out
Here, yet not, a box by a candle
The body within, the soul without.

Tears pour as I write this,
My emotions are raw and bare
My heart breaking as I reminisce
My soul overwhelmed with despair

I have cursed the day I lost you
I have seen it o'er and o'er each night
I have suffered to see how I could save you
How I could stop your soul from flight

Oh Beloved, how must I live on without thee?
You always knew this would'st come
You tried hard to prepare me
Of the days when your life was done

Unfair Fate, Unkind Death,
You took him far too young!
I should still have my love by my side
I should still be in his ARMS!
