Impatient
Would it seem ironic for someone who's been so ambivalent about the justification for this war to say he's impatient for them to get on with it? Because that's how I feel right now.

Mike, I'd be surprised if we see an attack tonight. The whole world is leaning forward in expectation. That's not the time to commense an attack.Darth Wong wrote:Would it seem ironic for someone who's been so ambivalent about the justification for this war to say he's impatient for them to get on with it? The "go" for the attack has likely been given, but the military commander will attack when conditions are properly set.

Right there with you buddy. I hate it when they give you a time, and then fail to actually start! The attack would probably be within the next 2 days...

I'm waiting every second for someone to start posting about massive air strikes and cruise missles and yadda yadda yadda. I'm most certainly impatient, especially since my mom would rather watch her sitcoms instead of keeping an eye on current events, especially of the war-making sort.

I'm sure it's going to start sometime this week, but probably not tonight. I say get it over with. The sooner we end this war, the sooner Saddam is out of power, the sooner a new Iraqi government can be established, the sooner protestors will get off the streets, and the sooner we can finish going after Al-Qaeda and fixing the economy.

If bombs dont start falling soon then I'd say there waiting until the next night. The conditions of Iraqs air defence would allow for a daylight attack, and that might increase the shock value but night gives most every advantage to the attackers.

No, it's a natural reaction. I know I'm feeling that same impatience.Darth Wong wrote:Would it seem ironic for someone who's been so ambivalent about the justification for this war to say he's impatient for them to get on with it? Because that's how I feel right now.

While it's not the entire military operation underway, seems you people have gotten your wish. 'Target of opportunity' acquired.
Also, I'd like to add, that I feel the media along with Ted and Enlightenment can go to hell. It's piss poor trying to find out what's going on and here the shit they're saying. Not only that, but some asshat on CNN is literally listing what was on the lines and even said where they were located. ON THE BORDER of Kuwait and Iraq. Holy shit, why use intelligence, just turn on the TV. Either way, hopefully this won't last long, and our boys and girls can make it back home swiftly. ¤§¤

The best question I've heard yet came from Fox. "Do you think they didn't tell us because they weren't sure when they are going to attack?"
Well personally, in my opinion, they didn't tell the media when they were going to attack because they know the media CAN'T KEEP A FUCKING SECRET.[/rant]

By definition, it's not their jobs to keep secrets. You don't tell anything to a reporter you wouldn't want splashed on the front page of the New York Times. If the media knows the locations of our troops, it's because Central Command wanted them to know and wanted that information public. It's a pretty good indication of how little regard there is for the Iraqi army. The Dark wrote:Well personally, in my opinion, they didn't tell the media when they were going to attack because they know the media CAN'T KEEP A FUCKING SECRET.[/rant]

--It would not be bad to want the conflict to be over with one way or the other so long as you endured supporting what was "right," but it would be bad to just go along with one side or the other in this war (which has such a high potential to cause massive suffering) just because you are impatient.
-If, as in Darth Wong's case, you are undecided on whether the war is justified you should not support them "just gett(ing) on with it." That is unless the war is a forgon conclusion, as is the case now.

Request granted, there is AAA going on in most of the shots and in the bottom right of one of them they are showing what looks like a hit.irishmick79 wrote:I'm getting impatient....the CNN camera views of baghdad doing nothing are getting boring. I want some fireworks, dammit. Not people getting killed mind you, just the fireworks.
When everybody else heard 'target of opportunity' did they also immediatly think it was Saddam himself? I mentioned that to somebody else in the TV lounge half an hour before the offical announcement that it was, was it obvious or wwas I just lucky?
