One-World Government (Another Government Thread.)

Say it's the near future. The old United Nations just went the way of the late, lamented dodo bird. However, a potent, binding one-world government is going to take it's place. There will be no nationalist guerilla movements, because even now, the troops of the world government are moving in to stamp them out. So, if you don't want to be 'disappeared' by the new world order, you're just going to have to accept the one-world goverment.

My question to you is, what one-world government would you rather live under, and why?

If each region's governor, viceroy, or whatever does whatever each region needs, then it might be possible. Or each ethnic region or former nation could be a state with some sovereignty, but the world government has the strongest military and authority.

The world gov's gonna need a pretty strong military though if it wants to keep the whole world under its control.

I aid anti-NWO resistance where possible, and after a few years of wars raging across the globe, it collapses from inability to deal with all of the brush fires.

Nation-States return, the world becomes independent and free again, and all is right.

The U.N. is communist, read the charter if you don't believe me.

Communism has never worked, and it never will. Whenever communism is in place it either requires aid from others or it needs to adopt capitalism and call it something else, just to feed its people. If it dosen't do this the people starve, thus if the U.N. is the World Government Millions-Billions die.

"These rights and freedoms may in no case be exercised contrary to the purposes and principles of the United Nations."

I don't see how we could have a seriously unified one-world government without first either encountering an alien race or settling off-world. People need a "they". The world would tear itself apart with movements.

Of the choices, I'd prefer an enlightened dictatorship, but that ain't gonna happen, so I guess a modified US would be good.

I could see a One World Goverment run by senators from each country working. But to do it we'd have to go way back to the original idea of the Republician System and have the said Senators living seperate from the people. The problem with modern politics is that too many people are in it for them selves and not for the people they represent. Communism done right is not a harmful thing, infact it's a great idea, but it fails due to human nature. Also due to human nature any system of goverment will have it's protesters.
