And lets remember when that Ray character actually tossed one into his pantry, shut the door, and braced it before it did anything. When one of the actors had said "every race has a weakness" My friend leaned over to me and said "So their weakness is pantry doors?"

This at least was mentioned in the movie

[talking about boarding up the windows and doors]
"How will that help?"
"Well, the one at Ray's place seemed to have trouble with a pantry door."

I thought Signs was a great movie, there are some flaws, every movie has flaws but if you simply ignore them and not attempt to rip a film to shreds just for the fun of ripping it to shreds you find you actually enjoy things.

I agree that Signs was a great horror film, so long as you do not think about it. I forgive its faults, and even recommended it to some friends of mine, but some of the things that it did did bother me. It was good, but the point was it could have been so much better.

The entire concept of telling an alien invasion story from the point of view of people with little substantial involvement was just so *cool*. And the execution was generally superb - it was just a couple of unfortunate thematic elements that really didn't let me enjoy it properly (I am generally pretty good at ignoring scientific/logical screw-ups so long as they aren't too glaring).
