While I think this is true, I doubt Data 'sees' as we do. What I mean is that Data's object recognition and possibly even his level of detail may, likely even far exceeds our own. It might take us several seconds to spot the predator even while looking for it but I imagine Data would cut that time down significantly.

Is there any evidence that Data has superior visual abilities compared to humans? I don't recall any situation that implied any such advantage in any TNG episode or movie.

I think there are a few examples of him being able to gauge distances/depths with extreme precision and reading body indicators. But I'm more talking about how his brain interprets (and what exactly is in) the information his eyes transmit and whether or not visual, colour blending camouflage would work on it. I mean, if you had two pictures and there was a minuscule difference between them it could take hours for a person to find it. How long would it take Data? I'm guessing seconds at most.

Are you asking if he has say, infra-red vision like Geordi or heat vision like the Predator? I'm sure there are examples.

Basically, I'm asking if there are known situations in which Data has spotted something that ordinary humans didn't see. In TNG "Identity Crisis", Geordi and other Starfleet personnel who had been infected with alien DNA during a visit to Tarchannen III are metamorphosed into the alien form, which has camouflage much like what the Predators use, and there is no indication that Data can see them any better than anyone else.

Data develops a method to detect the invisible aliens using ultraviolet light from an emergency beacon. Crusher, the very quickly healed Leijten, Riker, Worf, and Data beam down to the surface.

Data doesn't go down to the surface until the end IIRC and he at least developed a method to see them out of a beacon. I am assuming that he himself probably doesn't see outside of our range, given that I can't remember a single time he does (plus it's a Geordi power ) and as Soong would have probably wanted Data to experience life as we do and thus see as we do. That said, his eye sight is clearly far greater than ours even if just do to pure processing and analysis speed.

Still, having the tri-corder and the communicator is plenty for Data to play with. AND seeing the Predators wasn't an issue once you knew what to look for. All three Governors in the movie Dutch, Billy and Blain, see the Predator. So does Action Jackson and Mac. I think Anna does too. It's just that it can move so fast it is hard to keep a track on it and reacquire as it moves vertically as well as horizontally at a good speed in and out of cover. Still, I don't see Data having an issue there.

Also question: Does Data get the spooky story of the locals that Anna tells Dutch and crew? It's not much, but Data probably wouldn't just brush it off as Dillon (YOU SON OF A BITCH) did.
