Obama voices Net Neutrality support; Cruz instantly opposes
President Obama just came out in favor of Net Neutrality: Link
Naturally, everyone's favorite corporate shill immediately came out against it: Link
Now, did Cruz immediately oppose it because Obama supports it, because he's beholden to special interest groups, or because there's some legitimate concerns about the idea?

A combination of A and B most certainly. I don't think he knows enough about it to have legitimate concerns, especially if he's calling it "Obamacare for the internet".Dalton wrote:President Obama just came out in favor of Net Neutrality: Link

What's funny is on Facebook comments related to this, you have conservatives saying, "Yeah I really REALLY hate to do this...but I have to agree with Obama on this one."
Rather than the knee-jerk reaction to anything Obama-related, even conservatives are seeing through Cruz' bullshit and siding with the White House. That's saying something.

Probably because a free and open Internet allows the vast fetid swamps of conservative blogs to flourish without having to pay more overhead.

Conservatives on the internet. If you ask for opinions on the internet, of course you are going to get different opinions relating to the internet than off it.Borgholio wrote:What's funny is on Facebook comments related to this, you have conservatives saying, "Yeah I really REALLY hate to do this...but I have to agree with Obama on this one."

Up north, I've found that the conservative reaction to the Net Neutrality argument depends on the conservative. Older social conservatives generally don't use the net much, are afraid of it, and are subsequently comfortable with anything that gives the government or private entities the ability to censor any part of it for any reason. Younger conservatives, social or fiscal, have a special vein in their foreheads that throbs when you ask them to take sides.
