An examination of Raw Shark's wikipedia links bear out the notion that they are not always going to coincide:
wikipedia wrote: Eid al-Adha
1435 (Islamic Calendar): 5 October 2014
1436 (Islamic Calendar): 23 September 2015 (calculated)
1437 (Islamic Calendar): 11 September 2016 (calculated)
Yom Kippur
2014 – Saturday 3–4 October
2015 – Wednesday 22–23 September
2016 – Wednesday 11–12 October
So we're back to being able to ascribe less dickish motivations to the change.

Yes, I only read the first part of each and presumed that the months of two lunar calendars based on the same moon would be the same. Apologies for lazy research.

I didn't look at the links you gave me until eyl pointed out the inconsistency, so don't beat yourself up too much. Beat yourself up the regular amount.

That's the funniest thing I've read today. Just ... just fantastic, stuff.

Anyway, I'm curious if anyone out there has read more information about this? Have the schools made public comments or anything on the subject?

Saturnalia.
"I'm just reading through your formspring here, and your responses to many questions seem to indicate that you are ready and willing to sacrifice realism/believability for the sake of (sometimes) marginal increases in gameplay quality. Why is this?"
