I'd say that sucks, but I'm no drinker either and can't see the point in it, by the way, I just spent cash that could be used on drinking on getting NGE as a boxset.

Haven't you heard, alcohol is good for you! In moderate amounts... at least for this week, maybe next week they'll say its bad for you again.

My poor, poor brother; he'll never learn to appreciate the fine taste of paint thinner mixed with dog piss.

So are you taking him to Happy Joe's for his birthday sunday? Happy Joe's still exist there don't they? There used to be at least one in Iowa City but I'm not sure about Cedar Rapids.

No we aren't, and no there isn't one here, but there was one about a mile down on Mount Vernon Road, up untill maybe 6-8 years ago. We're backwater, but not by that much.

Aw, c'mon. Spanky seems just the type to "enjoy" having pizza parlor employees sing "Happy Birthday". Don't forget the annoying/attention getting siren.

You want to talk balkwater Iowa? I lived in Oskaloosa for a year. The new mall there was called ATPIC Mall. It stood for All Things Possible In Christ! Luckilly we moved shortly after it opened. No Happy Joe's though.

The other two places in Iowa I lived, Bettendorf and Iowa City both had Happy Joe's, although the last time I went to one for someone's birthday was more than 20 years ago.

Actually, I was referring to rum, scotch, most wines, etc, etc... I might actually enjoy a drink every now and then if even the expensive stuff wasn't all just crap.

I hear sake is just plain piss-poor awful, even from people who just drink to get drunk.

I used to think that too, but I was just buying the $10 stuff at the local booze store. The problem is they often serve this same stuff at a lot of the asian restaurants.

But then I spent some extra money for the premium stuff, which was actually really smooth and easy to drink. They usually come in nice display-worthy bottles too.

If buying Sake, always try to get refrigerated stuff, and don't "age" it. Its meant to be drank as soon as possible. Store it in the fridge, it wil get bitter fast (ie. the stuff at the local booze store) if left in warm weather.
