Bush is a criminal for going to war with Iraq. Stalin isn't a criminal even though he murdered 20 million people. It's an unjustified generalization to say the left is morally bankrupt, but these guys aren't helping the peace movement's image.

Most people don't know much about ANSWER other than that they're an anti-war group. Plus, their name has an automatic self-defense: "so, you're against ANSWER, eh? So you support racism?"

Just to piss them off, I would say yes.

Becareful, the protests are in SF proper, not in other parts of the Bay Area. There are over 6 million people living here. The protesters causing trouble are few in number. However, for some reason the city of SF attracts these types. They congregate there from other parts. I think part of the reason is that SF tends to have a counter culture atmosphere.

Actually, the US Census Bureau considers the San Francisco metropolitan area to consist of over 7 million. But yeah, the majority of the protests occur in SF proper. The protestors are only a fraction of the Bay Area population.

Seems as though the popular argument of anti-war people is 'Listen to the people! Nobody wants a war!'. I have heard numerous European people use that statement about Americans. Just goes to show the media bias towards giving the tiny minority of anti-war protestors news time, but never even hinting at the hundreds of pro-war and military support rallys that take place around the country every day, usually with a bigger turnout than the anti-war protests/mobs/riots.

And the media has a right wing bias, ey? Bull...

What's stupid about the SF protests is that a good number of the protesters aren't even from Frisco. People who purposely block off the streets deserve to get run over.

Both sides have extremists. The peaceniks look at the potential downsides of war (dead Iraqi civilians, increased Middle East strife, possible increase in terrorism, potential loss of American soldiers' lives, very high fiscal penalties, possibility of extended urban combat and lengthy occupation) and not the potential upside. The warmongers look at the potential upsides of war (getting rid of that asshole Hussein, fixing Iraq, and in wet dreams, starting a domino effect that will transform the entire Middle East into a group of secular democracies which respect human rights) and not the potential downsides. People just this side of the extremes look at the other side's points and acknowledge their existence but downplay them to nothing.

And the moderates try to look at both, aren't sure how it will turn out, and end up confused

In Madison Wisconsin the local Republican Party HQ office was attacked and vandalized during the night last night. I actually drove by the place, and the place looked like it was gutted. Damage estimates looked like they would easily run into the thousands of dollars.

here's the local news link, but I've got to add that the damage appeared to be more substancial than what this article described. I could see the paint and everything, but alot of equipment appeared to be damaged as well. Personally, it's pretty hard for me to believe that it wasn't anti-war protesters.

My brother goes to Wallenberg High, so he has to go through the business district to get to school. He left the house at about 7:30 this morning and got to school around 8:30. Fuckers. Go do something productive! And it's not like all of them are actually San Franciscans. Those bastards should clog up their own streets.

First it was anthrax, now its bombs. They could of at least done it while i had my calc and physics midterms yesterday.

At my school, there were talks of the students making an anti-war protest but...only because they want to cut school. Lazy DUMBFUCKS!!! Luckily it never happened.
