It's a shame you're too late for the shotgun; an event a while back gave an honest-to-god shotgun that gives precisely zero fucks about fun things like Borg energy-weapon adaptation.

yeah some of my fleetmates use that weapon and I think you make the sniper rifle from DS9 (though without the "shoot thru walls" ability).

IIRC both of those weapons use kinetic damage which is one of the 2 weapon types borg can't adapt to (other being physical).

It's silly, you would think they wouldn't adapt to their own Borg prosthetic weapon. That thing is a ridiculous PITA, IMO...

If you are in a fleet I suggest picking up the fleet adapted shields. 15k fleet marks, and I think 8k dilithium for a shield that has 15% resists to 3 damage types and adapts to whatever incoming damage type up to I think 20%. I ended up picking up one of each type, because both resist different damage types.

Also if you get a tier 6 ship I suggest picking up the mission "the other side." At the beginning of the mission you see Klingons and Cardassians fighting the alternate universe federation. Well its a never ending fight. So you can farm the XP for unlocking the abilities of your ship.

Oh my handle in game is @wesantilles if you need anything.

Out of curiosity, how do you get master keys without paying a lot of real money/ZEN, because I don't see any other way to acquire one.

Exchange dilithium for Zen or buy them on the exchange. Usually around 1.5million or so a pop.

According to Starbound, it's a problem solvable with enough combat drugs to turn you into the Incredible Hulk.

You can trade dilithium to get zen. Be sure to get the best deal for it, last time I checked it was about 164 dilithium per 1 zen. So you'd need 20,000 and change dilithium to get one key. It's not much, sure, but it's doable.

Also, does anyone know how to leave full-screen mode? I did it once by accident but I don't know how I did it.

You can also move your mouse to the upper-right corner and see the usual minimize-restore-close button trio.

I really lke what they do with some elements of the story, often building on established lore and playing around with it. My favourite so far is probably Spoiler
Miral Paris fulfilling the Klingon prophecy, by helping to cure the Klingons of the dreaded Smooth Forehead Blight via time travel. I seem to remember Khan and his genetics played a part in the story as well. It took three unrelated elements in Trek and managed to tie them smoothly together. Nerdgasms swiftly followed. It was...messy.

I like Q's appearances and the little references like the commemorative plaques in Starfleet Academy and the minor canon characters that occasionally pop up, like Naomi Wildman commanding a starbase.

Voyager seems to have the most people(as in main cast or important secondary characters) actually in game with Tuvok, Seven, The Doctor, Harry Kim, Neelix and Naomi Wildman. (I can't remember if Miral Paris was born during the run of Voyager or after it) and of those (only Wildman isn't voiced by the actor who played them in VOY), also it's possible that B'lanna Torres shows up in a cut scene but it's using a generic character model and voice so I can't be sure (and I'm not sure I ever saw that episode said cutscene is recreating and even if I did it's been ages)

TOS has Spock, McCoy and Scotty

TNG and DS9 has Worf (though the female changeling from the Dominion story line might be the same as in DS9)

ENT have nothing IIRC

You'd expect that Enterprise would have nothing, aside from references to ships like USS Archer and possibly a playable race or two... and the NX-1 or something designed to look like it being a playable ship. It's been about 250 years since the events of that series; the characters are all dead barring really wonky time travel.

The TOS era, on the other hand, was more like 150 years in the past, and canonically that is within living memory for some of the longer-lived races in the setting. Plus, of course, it's an inviting target for time travellers.

The Next Generation has a surprisingly small number of cameos, true, although there are a number of references- for example, you run into the son of that transporter-clone of Riker's. Maybe they couldn't get Frakes, Burton, and so on to voice-act for them.

Deep Space 9 is of course extensively referenced by the plot of the Cardassian/Gamma Quadrant arc, even if there are few or no cameos.

there's plenty of referrences to the all of the series (with the Suliban and the Xindi being present first time in post-ENT era) but I was talking about people actually present as NPCs in game.

I just did a mission where you fight Sela's fleet when it tries to destroy Vulcan. Despite being derivative of Nero in Abrams' first Star Trek film, that battle was pretty bad ass. Its nice to get some big battles now and then.

P.S. the upgrade for the Avenger retains all of it's killingness (PS fuck your Devs for making us pay for that with the Avenger. Also, high-fives to Seff for hooking a brother up with an upspec token. You the Man, bro). The Avenger is your Lord and Master, and all shall bow before it...

I'd love to have an Avenger for my Fed char or a Tac Scimitar for my Rommie but alas I don't have spare cash to get either atm, at least the ship I'm after with my Orion is free (it's the T6 Kobali one.)

oh and in an semi related question I assume you'll have to learn the mastery for each ship seperately.

Which reminds me, I forgot to keep one to use on mine. Oh well, I'm sure I'll find something in the ship pile to keep me entertained.
