Perhaps Germany could lend us some helicopters as well? Ours have the slight problem of not being able to fly without crashing.

Well, our multi-purpose helis have the advantage of not being cleared to fly at all, so I assume they are 99% crash free. And I say 99% because I won't rule out us managing to crash one anyway.

You can also now buy our revolutionary Anti-tank helicopter with the revolutionary configuration of not having the Anti-tank gun installed. A brilliant move that is so daring nobody will ever believe it.

Or how about our new drone which was just cancelled after five years of development because our safety inspector refused to sign off on it. Apparently nobody had the idea of checking the diagrams before building the first one.

The warning was in response to you saying "Fuck you" in response to a mod order telling you not to drag the shit from the other thread in here. BTW, I could easily warn you again for continuing this shit here instead of following proper procedure. But I won't. Because I am nice like that. It's Thanas' (volunteer) job to tell people "You are posting shit. Stop posting shit." and then to make them stop posting shit. Substanceless memes or whatever that was counts as shit, and I'm sure Coffee knows it's shit. He can call it a 'general gag order' if it makes him giggle, but it isn't. Telling users to stop posting poorly is, in fact, the main tool that a mod has for crowd control, other than actually moving or deleting posts.

I like Coffee's good posts. He's funny. He has a lot to say about his work and his life. But he also tends to tear shit up around him, which is against the rules. The staff enforce the rules. Thanas telling him to stop, and then warning him, is exactly him doing his job right, and I'm fairly certain that no matter what anyone thinks of the house rules they know that AR06 is one rule we've backed up seriously before. Thanas used the tools he had to enforce the rules he's been asked to.

Based on this, Coffee has been temp-banned for one week starting now. A vote is underway in the mod forum to see how the team feels about making it permanent, and the results of that will be posted before the end of the week.

If anyone wants comments on the issue passed to the mod forum on this issue before the end of the vote, my inbox is always open.

The results of the moderator discussions are in and Mr. Coffee has been permanently banned from SDnet for his behavior in this thread, which was originally split from Ze Germans vill fight to ze last Pole thread in N&P.

He brought a vendetta from the Reparations paid to Guantanamo detainees... thread to the other one, then ignored legitimate moderator orders to desist and all but accused Thanas of abuse of his position as a moderator, which was not the case. Taking into account both threads, according to the most lenient interpretation, seriously misrepresented some things that Thanas said (e.g. slavery vs Civil War era South), and according to less lenient interpretations, his words could well have been construed as deliberate lies. Readers are well able to judge for themselves on that score.

Mr. Coffee had two prior temporary bans under his belt for similar behavior, posting drunken rants and ignoring any and all moderator orders. Some of the staff were willing to grant him one last chance, but they were left in the minority and administrator Queue made his decision accordingly.

Mr. Coffee at his best was funny, insightful, irreverent and fun and many of us were well entertained by his stories, for example, Floored - the Adventures of Mr. Coffee (board membership required to view). He also contributed quite a bit of practical advice for various topics involving building, renovations and similar things, most recently in the Home Improvement thread, but in the end these were not enough to save him when weighed against the negatives.

It is no pleasure to write this entry, but someone must, and I'd rather that Mr. Coffee is remembered for all of the things he did, not just his latest unfortunate outburst of temper and misjudgment.
