What was the worst wait in line you ever went through?

Post by Asst. Asst. Lt. Cmdr. Smi »

Was it at an amusement park? A bank? A movie theater? How long was it? Why did you it? I'll tell you what my owrst waits were.

They're usually at amusement parks, where the weather is hot, and sometimes, it smells funny too, from some smoker, or some jerk with a foul BO. I don't mind waiting for a long time, I just it when the line won't move, or there's something annoying.

My worst wait was about 30-45 minutes long. I was waiting in line, and in front of me, there was this couple, and they were making out. And it was one of those fat and ugly couples, and if I ate something in the past hour, I would have thrown up.

The 2nd worst was about 15-20 minutes long. I wouldn't have minded, but there was this little kid behind me that wouldn't stop singing at the top of his lungs. I was temped to tell him to shut the hell up, but I was in a "family friendly" environment.

I'm sure that's nothing for you guys.

Longest would be Space Mountian of Disneyland fame, Total Wait time? Two hours thirty four mintues but I was only had tickets for two days and it was day two damned if I'm going to miss it :D

Worst was when I went back a few years later helping a friend sheperd a few tikes through Unveirsal Studios,
Twenty eight mintues we waited in line to get into the Nicklodean studios surronded by legions of kids all wanting to know when they where going to get in why it was so hot and if they could get slimed(Don't ask me why thats such a big thing) all the while its Hot, Sticky and I seem to have been surronded by the Most Annyoing Voice Campionons Three years running

It took much of my self control NOT to let my frustataion out on the people and Secruity guards ahead of us(Me justing having come off a three week bing of dieting and getting back into my old(Healty) shape most of which includes running with Heavy things plus praticing my stick fighting and the happy flag poll and the fact the secruity guards look like they had wandered away from the old an Infirm ward was very temping to say the least)

surprise surprise, mine was at the DMV. for some reason they decided to make everyone who had thier drivers test with an outside firm go to driver renewl desk instead of new driver license desk. I spen 2 hours to find out that I was in the wrong line, then another 1 1/2 hours to get my pisture taken, even though they had the equipment to add me in at the otehr desk.

Licensing is a shame. they should get rid of it.

Earlier this year I went up to Tahoe to go skiing with some coworkers.

Normally, its roughly 4 hours from the Bay Area..

Well, we got the last big snow storm of the year, one the way up. We sat on highway 80 for hours and hours. Traffic was terrible. Chains were required.
It was cold. I have a 2 door Civic, so it was loaded with gear, meaning we were cramped.

It took 8 hours to get to Tahoe. I think that was my worst line ever.

Trying to get through Twin Cities traffic on Labor Day weekend. 6 hours to go 50 miles. It was the worst traffic I had EVER seen. I'm still pissed from that incident, I missed tha last episode of B5. I didn't see it until scifi aired reruns.

The place: Interstate 76, between where the Pennsylvania Turnpike ends in King of Prussia and the Philadelphia city line.

The time: 2:30 minutes before tipoff, Sixers vs. Pistons, February of 2001, during their Eastern Conference championship season.

The situation: Miles upon miles of traffic thanks to an idiotic highway design, rush hour congestion, and some idiot who decided to roll his SUV somewhere up by 30th St.

We're sitting in traffic, staring at taillights. The next exit is at least 2 miles up. I'm not worried because we've got plenty of time. Then the girlfriend says, "Um, you've got the tickets, right?" So, crawl up to the next exit, drive all the way back to Villanova (12 miles from Philadelphia), park, run into her room, get the tickets, back to the highway, sit in traffic, get there late, park half a mile away, miss the first quarter.

Jesus on a pogo stick, was I pissed off. At least the Sixers won.

Worst wait was last July 4th at Universal Studios Florida. After the fireworks ended, everyone in the park started to clear out at the same time. There were no shuttle buses or anything else to facilitate travel, only a LONG walk on foot back to the parking lot (there were a bunch of conveyer belts for the idiots who wanted to cram into them, although they were slower than normal walking speed). Biggest crowd I've ever seen in my life. Everyone was literally touching the people in front of and behind them. Took one and a half hours to walk back to the parking lot. Worst yet, some of the people I was with got lost in the crowd, so I had to wait even longer before leaving.

Another time was in the bathroom line in the theater after seeing Austin Powers in Goldmember. I didn't go to the bathroom before seeing the movie, and I gulped down an extra large soda while watching. Damn near pissed myself at the constant urine jokes. After the movie, every man in the audience rushed right for the bathroom. Wasn't actually that long a wait though, but it seemed like an eternity.

The worst for me was a urinalysis line when I was in the Navy. My SSN had come up in the day's random drawing but I didn't find out until later in the morning so when I got through the line the first time I didn't need to go.

So I spent awhile drinking lots of water while I was working and went back to the urinalysis station later. Of course the line was long and slow and I already had to go really bad. I think it took another hour for me to finally get my turn. It was so bad that I was actually bent over because of the cramps of holding it in. What's worse is that when I finally got my turn it took several minutes for me to go because I had been holding it so long.

In case some of you haven't had to do U.S. government style urinalysis another fun element is that an official actually has to see the urine start to come from you. In otherwords you have some official staring at your dong as you are trying to piss into a cup. Lots of fun.

The other fun side effect that I've found is that after drinking all that water to go once I have to go about every hour for most of the rest of the day.

Longest wait (both time-wise and length of line): opening night for Star Wars: A New Hope special edition. The line was 10 blocks long. Second longest would be for The Phantom Menace, and *worst* wait in line would be the nearly-freezing weather waiting for Attack of the Clones. I also ended up getting hit by a pellet gun waiting for Attack of the Clones (fortunately it didn't penetrate the cloak I was wearing, some other guy who was closer to the street wasn't quite as lucky.)

And for all 3, YES it was worth it!
