just local villagers getting pissed at a local coal power plant dumping waste on them. So they blocked the road to stop deliveries of coal, throwing petrol bombs and such. Oh, and the road was Highway Number 1 - the core route linking the country.

It's probably the happiest sounding dangerous riot I've seen. Impressive restraint/ fear from the army too.
In the other, the culling of 6700 mature trees in Hanoi was halted after 20,000 people joined a facebook group, signed a petition and started hosting events to protest. Some of these trees were 500 years old. Although officially halted I know that certain individuals have been ring stripping bark from trees, so they will fail the 'healthy' test and be felled later when the cull resumes.
