She says, after drunk posting a partial retraction to an argument she made on the the Internet several years ago that most everyone else had long since forgotten about.

Could we please not have another major war in my lifetime? Is that too much to ask?

Heh.

Paging Barbara Tuchman? Barbara Tuchman? We have a call for you on line 3...

In one sense, it's just the acronym for ISIL/ISIS in Arabic: Dawlat (al-) Islāmiyya ‘Irāq Shām, but it's also an insult.

No, because Poland isn't actually threatening to send an army. They're threatening to "take action" which is not the same thing.

Not the act of someone deeply concerned about her image, no?

Or at least, not the act of someone who cares more about their image than they do about admitting a mistake.

I mean, I wouldn't even have known she'd ever held the position in the first place if she hadn't said so. So bonus points to drunk!Duchess for being willing to say something about that and express actual change and growth and recognition of realities that she did not recognize in the past.

It was an odd thing to do, but I for one am not criticizing. The world might be a better place if more of us thought back on what we'd done and said in years past and reflected and tried to learn from our mistakes, and used our new ideas to update our old assumptions.
