Maelstrom's Edge is up on Kickstarter right now. You can read all about the game on the main page, but hidden in the updates, it turns out that they've signed on some incredible talent to write their fiction: Alastair Reynolds, Karin Lowachee, Aliette de Bodard, Jeff Carlon, Liz Williams, Jaine Fenn and Rob Zeigler. It looks like they're creating a nice big shared universe for novels and games.
They've already got some short-short stories up, including one about a guy whose job is operating drone mecha, and some radicalized cultists who may be in over their heads. There's even a free audiobook.
And now for some sweet, sweet pictures.
The sweet spot pledge has some cool stuff, including the wargame and a card game.

"Unquestionably, Dr. Who is MUCH lighter in tone than WH40K. But then, I could argue the entirety of WWII was much lighter in tone than WH40K." --Broomstick
"This is ridiculous. I look like the Games Workshop version of a Jedi Knight." --Harry Dresden, Changes
"Like...are we canonical?" --Aaron Dembski-Bowden to Dan Abnett

Could a mod fix the title please? Should be "writing for a new..."

Backed at the $90 level. It has a lot of mechanics I find appealing. I look forward to forgetting about it and then getting a nice surprise in the mail around December.

I look forward to getting a surprise in the mail in March. (It's a Kickstarter.)
