Should I neuter the search function in order to speed up the board?

Yes. I don't care about searching really old posts.

What was the date 100,000 posts ago? Roughly 60 days back? 45?

Seems like not that long ago that the board hit 100K total posts.

I think there's a way to purge entries older than a specific date... Maybe delete really old ones, but keep newer ones?

I've been off the board for a while--the first thing I noticed when I got back was that it's much, much snappier than it used to be.
It's not my place in life to make people happy. Don't talk to me unless you're prepared to watch me slaughter cows you hold sacred. Don't talk to me unless you're prepared to have your basic assumptions challenged. If you want bunnies in light, talk to someone else.
