An hypothetical situation
Suppose that you meet a nice girl, friend of a friend of yours, at a party friday night. You end up really simpathising with her. She has to leave early, so you accompany her to the car and, right before she enters it, gain courage and ask for her phone number. She gives it smiling. You ask her if you can really call.
She says yes. You then say: then I'll do it.
Now, when would you call her (Saturday, Sunday, well), and what would you say? Remember, I.. err.. you've just met her, and spent only a couple of hours talking to her.
Well, maybe this is not an entirely hypothetical situation
Damn it, I prefer to have girls hiting on me, not the other way around.

Call her up today and ask if she wants to grab lunch or a cup of coffee or what ever is apropriate for your region and/or age. Continue on with your coversation and see if it can go on to something else.....like dinner.

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Or better yet... breakfast. OH! Did I say that?
But seriously, not to make light of the situation... Asking her to coffee or lunch is probably the best solution. Find out what you both like and do that for awhile. The thing between the two of you will blossom. Unless you end up like my friend and his GF, networking their laptops together playing Quake 3...
Oh yeah, it's alot easier when they are chasing you.. isn't it?

Since when do women chase guys? Do these mythical women exist? If so, I've never seen one. Or maybe I'm just not worth chasing.

Call her when you feel like talking to her. And say why you called - to talk to her.

Its a matter of subtlety. You have probably been chased, just didn't know it.Vympel wrote:Since when do women chase guys? Do these mythical women exist? If so, I've never seen one. Or maybe I'm just not worth chasing.

Call her sometime on Monday. Don't want to give of an aura of desperation.
And I speak from having no experience with women, so obviously you can trust me.
edit: BTW, Olrik, I'm not implying that you are desperate. I'm just saying you don't want to appear to be so, especially if you're not.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

Re: An hypothetical situation
I was in your situation this past new years. I met a firend of my friend's girldfriend and we hit it off. Give her a shout right away. Don't listen to friends who claim that you should wait x amount of days before you call. Give her a shout the next night and ask her to meet you for coffee so that you can continue the wonderful conversation you had. That's what I did and it worked! But we broke up three weeks ago so what the hell do I know?Colonel Olrik wrote:Suppose that you meet a nice girl, friend of a friend of yours, at a party friday night. Vympel, my last girlfriend (we dated for two years) asked me my phone number, and phoned me first. Those are encouraging signs, and fillers of ego. It was I who eventually asked her out on a date, but the task of advancement was made easy for me by her giggles, looks and hand gestures.
My first girlfriend actually made the move on me, by holding my hands and embracing me while we were walking on the countryside. I was only sixteen, though, and she was two years older.

Well having been party of both.
Call her Saturday, and try to remember your eariler conversation or ask her out for some sily date(coffee what not)
I only speak from limited yet weird experience...and for some reason prefer women asking me out because my talent in speech is the same as a stuttering fool when it comes to women.

Well, I don't know about that. Ask Kelly or some other girls who happened to pay attention when I posted some pics of me (since then removed).Cpt_Frank wrote:Those are truly rare. Man you have to look good.my last girlfriend (we dated for two years) asked me my phone number, and phoned me first.
Hush, it will happen when you least expect it(Part of the reason why this will never happen to me )

Well, I've made up my mind. I'll phone her sunday early in the evening and ask her to meet me monday, to lunch or simply to take a coffee.
Today I was sick with sleep (arrived home at six am and slept at most three hours) and didn't felt like inviting her out this weekend (my Sunday is full with work and BIKE). So, I'll ask her Sunday to meet me the next day.

That way you look neither desperate nor uninterested.
