Cool is in the eye of the beholder of course but I was less than whelmed myself.

'No. No dating for the Batman. It might cut into your brooding time.'

'Hey, we both have a Martian's phone number on our speed dial. I think I deserve the benefit of the doubt.'
'You know, for a guy with like 50 different kinds of vision, you sure are blind.'

I actually giggled out loud at the Tie Fighter bit. I'm still not sure if I should have...

As a technical work for a student or amateur, it is indeed impressive. But it is nothing we haven't already seen already with Star Wars itself (especially with the prequels).

Depends upon what you consider 'overpowered I guess. In the now defunct EU, Jedi have done far more. Even generally considered to be minimalist Zahn had Luke considering ripping armour plates off a pirate battlecruiser in SotP.

I suppose that's because in books and comics you don't have to worry too much about a special effects budget, so you can make your Jedi as spectacular as you want, wanking them to the extreme. Which is why Zahn invented the ysalmiri, I suppose. He had to give his super wanked out Jedi some kind of "Kryptonite" to keep them interesting.

Which is perhaps the shittiest way to do it. Inventing a specific foil for something doesn't take any effort on the part of the writer. This is basically the same as inventing a craptastically written species to be a "foil" to the Jedi. Neither option make the Jedi more interesting, more so because they weren't interesting in the first place. You might pull of an interesting villain if you give him something he can use to foil his enemy / enemies, but this in turn does require some effort on part of the writer unless going for the "kryptonite" effect.

It was interesting for awhile and a nice demonstration of a person's sfx skills, but nothing spectacular.

As far as Jedi powers go, Vader in the Sith books was able to pull a freighter down out of the sky through sheer telekinesis, and he was crushing an AT-AT in the comics, so someone stopping a TIE and pulling its wings off would be in the realm of possibilities, not necessarily any old Padawan but meh.
'Ai! ai!' wailed Legolas. 'A Balrog! A Balrog is come!'
Gimli stared with wide eyes. 'Durin's Bane!' he cried, and letting his axe fall he covered his face.
'A Balrog,' muttered Gandalf. 'Now I understand.' He faltered and leaned heavily on his staff. 'What an evil fortune! And I am already weary.'

This would have been far more impressive if we had not had dozens of video games over the years that show us exactly the same thing and make it interactive.
It has become clear to me in the previous days that any attempts at reconciliation and explanation with the community here has failed. I have tried my best. I really have. I pored my heart out trying. But it was all for nothing.

You win. There, I have said it.

Now there is only one thing left to do. Let us see if I can sum up the strength needed to end things once and for all.

You could easily make a good Jedi centred movie if you filmed it like Nicolas Cage in next:

His blurring, being shot and deaths in the clip is not some matrix powers but a representation of all the possible outcomes as he uses his foresight in battle. The ending shows you his long range precognition.
