The bodies were only found in the abandoned lorry when the blood and sludge started to leak out. 71 dead, presumed suffocation.

Unfortunately, not the only refugee deaths lately.

You have how many people fleeing what they perceive is certain death at the hands of ISIS?

I'm glad there have been some arrests. It won't come near solving the problem but at least this time there will be some consequences for people taking advantage of the desperate and leaving them to die.

It does make me wonder, sometimes, how history will judge this time and this particular crisis.

Well, remember the Vietnamese boat people? How strong is the sense of shame there?
or the Irish famine
or the 1947 partition in India/pajkistan
or the palestine dispoara from the same time
or Uganda's explusion of the asians?
or the rwanadan genocide?
or the one in Sudan/Somalia

History doesn't fucking judge anything except the things the powerful want judged.
