Daily Mail voted UK’s favourite satirical news site

Post by Zaune »

The Daily Mail has been voted the UK’s favourite satirical news website, beating out the likes of the Daily Mash.

The Daily Mail was first published in 1896 and has been entertaining the nation with it’s unique brand of satire ever since.

Paul Dacre, editor of the Daily Mail has said “Being voted the nation’s favourite is a great honour. Over the decades we’ve pledged allegiance to the Nazis and invented the gay gene. We even employed Katie Hopkins. Yet despite all that, some people still take us seriously. It’s all good fun though. In recent years we’ve faced very tough competition from the likes of the Mash and bfnn, but it’s nice to know the British people still have a place for us in their hearts.

As with The Onion in the USA, material from the Daily Mail has often been mistaken for the truth. Despite the paper’s far fetched writing style, people frequently quote stories from the Mail and share them on social media believing them to be real.

Regarding this issue, Dacre says “Well if people are thick enough to believe this crap then more fool them. It is depressing that some people don’t see the fun and actually believe in the far right racist and bigoted views we print, but ultimately it just means we make even more money. Done in a serious context, sharing a Daily Mail article is like sharing a Britain First post. It makes you look like a moron and people will start removing you from their friends list. So don’t do it, simple.”
I'm genuinely sad that this is itself a satire...
There are hardly any excesses of the most crazed psychopath that cannot easily be duplicated by a normal kindly family man who just comes in to work every day and has a job to do.

Replace "ginger" with "n*gger," and suddenly it become a lot less funny, doesn't it?

I'd have had no problem believing this was true and a facebook group or whatever had rigged the poll to get the Mail in.

Cant beat the Mash. The headlines alone usually give me a laugh. More than the Onion anyway!

Still, neither is Private Eye so thus they will forever lose the real title ;)
