It's the one that "increases main battery accuracy" with no description of how much. TAS is Target Acquisition System, the one that isn't Concealment Modification I from that upgrade category.

I believe artillery accuracy mod is -8% or so to dispersion at max distance (scaled along the way)

Oh that. Get it on all IJN gun ships. On US cruisers AA is better.
I think on US BBs it is a 3m upgrade (haven't played them for two months now) in which case you better go for the main battery reload increase as it is an awesme increase in DPM.

Concealment is still much better.

Unless you do not run steering gears mod on BBs, then you will need the better acquisition range (or Vigilance skill).

So....I got the Hindenburg.

Holy shit, what a ship. WHAT A SHIP.

Did you know that the Tier X German cruiser can citadel BBs? Just happened today against the Izumo. Bam, three citadels and he lost like 18k health in one salvo. And that feeling when you land 5 citadels on an Ibuki.....Hindenburg might be more powerful than the Yamato when it comes to DPS.

Don't worry, as soon as the Russian cruiser line is out a whole new class of supercruiser should be roaming the game, as the Russian Tier X is Project 66, a 30,000 ton fully loaded ship with typical Stalin era supercharged 220mm 65cal guns. Also 170mm of deck armor, which given the trends of the game will actually work as intended unlike some ships protection. She was the size of Kongo, and so big she made absolutely no sense in real life compared to 12in gunned battlecruisers. Thus she was killed and Project 82 was serious longer.

Hidenberg does seem to have very powerful guns, but I could generally citadel her in turn with a New Orleans and she's physically a large target so I tend to worry about the Zao more. Now I'm on the Baltimore and Omaha farming and just not encountering many of them of late.

I bolted on the rudder-shift buff and (having not read this post) the plotting room (-7% dispersion). Anomalous results (RNGing a bow-on Konigsberg at max range seconds before he finished me off) notwithstanding, I'm overjoyed with the accuracy - running 60-70k damage at tier 4 a few games running.

Oh, I have fought against those mini-battleships and they are no threat to any well-driven TX whatsoever. They have such crappy concealment that any decent CA captain should prevail against her. I also was unimpressed with the armor scheme - not strong enough to bounce strong AP penetrations like the Hindenburg and Yamato unless super-angled and a huuuge citadel. And utter shite for maneuverability too. I cannot see this ship supplanting Zao as Queen and Hindenburg as King of the cruisers at all. Basically, as soon as I get the right firing solution they are pretty much screwed.

All in all, I am not that much impressed with the entire Russian cruiser line so far except for their T9, which is generally just a better Baltimore.

That's fair, in my opinion a lot of people are playing her wrong. For example, they do not know how to aim her guns, how to angle, when to change speed and when to hold their fire. Most just blast away at 18km, instead of getting into the best firing position first. Hindenburg is strongest when you can pick the engagement at distances of 12-14km (hello, 12k volley on the Iowa) and weakest when you have to engage an angled enemy at long range.
Like this.

(watch especially 6 min in for how to deal with a charging New Orleans. At 10km and below angling does not matter against Hindenburg, as she just overmatches. And 17 minutes in it shows what happens to an Iowa giving a broadside to a Hindenburg, even at long range)



Here is my general impression of T10 cruisers:
- Des Moines (own her): Best ship up close and in knife-fights. Sucks at anything long-range.
- Zao (haven't gotten her yet): Stealth, long range HE firing.
- Hindenburg (own her): Show me broadside and you are dead.
- Moskva (not released yet): Please don't notice me so I can melt you with HE at long range.
Now I'm on the Baltimore and Omaha farming and just not encountering many of them of late.
German cruisers are significantly harder to play than the Japanese or US lines and I think many people just gave up. Like how many players instinctively know where to aim at an enemy ship to hit one specific spot? Not many, I wager.

It wouldn't surprise me if most of the German players simply stopped at the Nuremberg as they are utterly incapable of handling the thing in action, even though it should be easy. Most of my encounters with them seemed to be the German ship fleeing in circles or just never firing effectively. I'm used to a pretty high level of skill in game past that, frankly the Euro server sounds like its easier on average.

Its also just a reality that traffic on the NA server is down 33% on average since I was playing before so probably only the more hardcore people left too. The game isn't as stale as it was, but it still gets old if your really playing enough to level up to the top tiers. I dunno how you can find it that interesting to do that over and over. I'll get my Des Moines now and I have some other trees mid tier ships but I cannot imagine leveling them up unless we get some major gameplay changes. Convoys or something else then perpetual melee. Though it is unendingly amusing to me how the air sea melee this game generates vindicates some silly warship armament arrangements like the Omaha.

Yeah, that seems to be the case on EU as well. I think it is mainly the Nürnberg punishing mistakes hard and the Yorck being that bad which combines to drive the numbers down.

I think the EU server has a much higher average skill setting (as indicated by the Project R numbers). And the shipleaders seem to be somewhat evenly split (search HIndenburg global here).
I dunno how you can find it that interesting to do that over and over.
I like playing different ship styles and I enjoy the different challenges, like handling a Baltimore completely different than a Roon....

I started playing the US cruiser line (on the EU server), but I am not sure about how to proceed with my captain's skills. I have spent 6 points on the first three skills in the "survivability" category and have 4 left. I'm thinking about paying the dubloons to chose other skills. Would this be a good setup?

- Basics of Survivability
- Expert Marksman (instead of Fire Prevention, which doesn't seem so useful, as it apparently doesn't reduce the fire change by 7 percentage points, as I had assumed when I first chose it=
- Vigilance (instead of High Alert, where I use the improved damage control anyways)
- Demolition Expert

I would keep high alert instead of vigilance as US CA's (assuming steering gears upgrade) have more than enough rudder shift time to easily dodge torps.Post T8 I would use Super Intendant instead of High Alert as you need it for the heal (and maybe earlier for defensive AA as well).

Other than that this is the exact setup I use for my CAs.

World of Tanks had similar problems; they did introduce new map/battle types.

Got as far as ep8 of Arpeggio of Blue Steel. The amount of fan service is deranged. The amount of lasermissiletorpedogunspam is likewise.

Apparently the HMS Campbelltown is in the cards for the near future.

American radar has shorter range than Russian, but has +50% duration (30s vs 20s). Not nearly as imbalanced as I feared.

Yeah, US Radar is really useful. Too bad that it won't fix the Shimakaze problem at all. Instead, it will hit the only useful counters to IJN DDs - the US gunboats. I really hate how this game is treating US DDs.

Having only played up to T6 I can't comment accurately. What you're saying is unfortunate though considering how much I love the Clemson. Does the radar ignore LoS restrictions like islands which US DDs would usually be using for cover?

On a better note, I just snagged a used MSI GP60 Leopard rather than forcing my work laptop to barely handle WoWS. Islands have trees and shit now! Water is actually 3D!! :D

I've recently got back into both WoT and WoWs and I'd probably play more often if I had people to play with and platoon up with. If you're in game look me up (Same username as here) some times or send a friend request. Also does SDN have a clan or something by now or is that still not a thing and which servers do ya'll generally play on?
