The central leg is just support.

Tensors should always support ships on the ground. This thing is probably rated for high 2000 to low 3000g acceleration (through likely not off-center). But in any event, sitting on the ground it has to withstand...g.

Pretty good work. It looks like you're nearly done with the walker.

Not the biggest fan of mecha but I do enjoy this one. Feels like the scale I imagined for the X-1 Viper, before I saw the Dark Empire comics (I actually got a hold of the radio dramas before the graphic novels, good old Borders). Compared to an AT-AT, less payload but perhaps comparable troop capacity? Or more in line with the AT-TE?

Also glad to see the DX-9 completed. How deeply do you envision the torpedoes being stacked in the pods, since the engines are mounted there as well? For that matter, how deep are the cells on the StarWing and Missile Boat?

A belated thanks also for the porn... er... turret pic. Glad to see both 300/400 TT HTL turrets on display, feels like such a neglected caliber :P . I must confess I don't recognize the turret to the right of the DBY-87 (and left of the quad 30/40 barbette). An alternate twin 30/40?

That turret is an alternate 30/40. It's basically the model of the axial turrets for chase guns of an ISDI as well.

The torpedoes probably go about 1/3 to 1/2 the way into the nacelle pod (about where the side vent is after the ...grid area to forward). I envisioned that the vent would be to dissipate warhead exhaust from the launch system. Note that these warheads would have much more volume than the conical torpedoes of an XW (and which would be carried by something like the launchers bolted onto an T/ln or T/I).

The biped walker doesn't have any troops at all. It's purely a combat platform. Note that it's also 15m tall, which makes it come up to an AT-AT's chin more or less. The cockpit and the whole vehicle is much smaller than an AT-AT.

I think the main difference between "rockets" and torpedoes is not caliber, but length within the same pod. Concussion should be quad or triple packed into the cell.

Ah. Gotcha. I tend to forget about the ISDI's axial turrets.

Hm. My copy of the cross-sections is in storage, but is there a distinction between a tube (like an X-wing's, where the torpedo has a cartridge launching it) and a launcher (ala the B-wing and the N-1, with shorter or no cartridge but a more elaborate external mechanism)? I take your point on the length of ordnance. Thank you for pointing out the grid area.

One of the things that make mecha a little annoying for me :), judging scale. So, this really is a heavy AT-ST. Certainly more interesting than the unimaginatively scaled-up AT-STs that get cited as medium walkers. :D

Is that landing barge your own design, or an established/canon one?

So, AT-AT is going to be made. Well, at least it's getting done. Hopefully there will be time for an AT-ST as well. I must ask, though, is this series of images going to be in a WIP folder on your site? Same deal with the vehicle scaling thing.

Love it, is it intended to be deployed from ISDs or something bigger? Is the top deck with the upward-folding hatch intended for deploying speeders or something else?

Never mind, found the original description.

I really like that comparison shot. It's nice to see the different levels of the vehicles.

Pretty neat work on the AT-AT. I mean it. Though I must ask, isn't this WIP 03 and not WIP 04?

Fixed the numbering.

A surprising amount of detail on the panels up at the top of the walker.

Where is the door the officer came out of in ROTJ?

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

That's not on the studio model from ESB (duh, right?), which is my main reference. I think the ESB set basically puts it as part of the main side hatch.

At this point, probably the only thing left aside from possibly the back and undercarriage is the head. Nice work.

BTW, I might as well ask: Since you indicated earlier that you're going to be focusing more on smaller ships currently, think you can do an Imperial troop transport from the old (ie, Legends-era) Marvel Comics series? You know, this one:

Image

It's barely as large as a TIE bomber, so it qualifies as a small ship, so... just food for thought.

TIL this was not an elevator but an access hatch to a walker.

I like the name.
