- Cel Shading: all the criticisms about the graphics? Blown out of the water. WW is easily one of the best-looking and best-animated games I have ever seen. The people models are all very smooth and well-textured, with considerable detail paid to facial expressions. And Link does NOT look fucked-up.
- The little things: Constant eye movement on Link's part, constantly changing facial expressions, actual hair movement...and something really cool - you're not dry when you leave the water, you actually drip. Damn cool IMO.
- The GBA connection: Tingle might be annoying, but don't discount the Tingle Tuner. Extremely useful, and the first time I've used such a device (I remember that the Dreamcast had something similar on its controllers). Tingle can come in very useful - he can blow shit up for you!
- Swordplay: Very much improved over OoT and MM - same moves, with some new ones like parries.

Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker - First Impressions
I picked up The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker last night after a considerable clusterfuck at FuncoLand. Here are my initial impressions about the game...

Betcha can't beat it by Friday! I bet my friend $0.25 (I'm a cheap ass, so sue me) that he can't. But hes prven me wrong before. He beat OoT in 6 days on his first try. Hes a fucking Zelda nut.
Either way, I don't understand why people give such a shit about graphics. What the hell happened togameplay?Since when did the actual way the game plays take the backseat to graphics?Graphicsfor fucks sake.
Some of the best games I've ever played could've looked better as muppets, but do I care? HELL NO! If the game rocks, screw graphics!

Gnome, I forgot to mention that the gameplay is much better than OoT or MM.

I found a couple of headscratchers so far, but nothing too hard yet.Darth Garden Gnome wrote:Puzzles tough so far? I like tough puzzles, but not Water Temple (from OoT) like puzzles, that stuff was fucking insane.Dalton wrote:Gnome, I forgot to mention that the gameplay is much better than OoT or MM.
The Water temple wasn't too bad once I puzzled it out. The trick is to remember the crack above where you first meet Ruto.

Water Temple was just, well annoying. Place was too big! And those whirlpools at the end were annoying to cross too.Dalton wrote:The Water temple wasn't too bad once I puzzled it out. The trick is to remember the crack above where you first meet Ruto.
I'd be prepared for the worst if I were you.I found a couple of headscratchers so far, but nothing too hard yet.

Congrats, Dalton. I'm picking up my copy Friday. And DGG, the Master Quest Water Temple is way harder.

Define "kiddy". Majora's Mask got pretty hard at times.Stormbringer wrote:Is it the same kind of overly kiddy stuff like Majora's Mask or more like Ocarina of Time?
Overall though it's more like OoT at the moment.

Ouch. I almost died in the Shadow Temple, but I had four fairies with me, so it was all good.Dalton wrote:You know I died in the Deku Tree? The Deku Tree! From a Giant Deku baba!

Say, what's the largest fish you've ever gotten without the sinking lure. I caught a 23-pounder once. Didn't even fit on the screen.
