By the way
and by the way, i just realized something. we're at each other's throats on something that is nothing more than a personal opinion. even hard numbers couldn't back this up.

I always like "Crossroads"Zaia wrote:I thought the song "Vincent (Starry, Starry Night)" was one that lots of people knew. Very pretty, folky, all about Vincent van Gogh.....?Perinquus wrote:99% of the American public couldn't name another song by him if their lives depended on it. I'd say that qualifies him for one-hit wonder status.Zaia wrote:WHAT?!!! Don McClean isn't a one-hit wonder!
Hmm, perhaps I'm just more extrodinary than I realized.

Here are some other notable one hit wonders....
Ray Parker Jr. "Ghostbusters" theme - if you want to talk about a monster one hit, this has got to be it. Cheesy lyrics aside, it's just a catchy song.
"Whomp There it is" by Tag team has to be on this list as well....
"Runaway Train" by Soul Asylum (I think)
"Because the Night (belongs to lovers)" by Patti Smith
"Bang on the Drum all Day" Todd Rundgren - Granted, Rundgren appeared on alot of other famous stuff, like Meatloaf's Bat out of Hell album, but I think this is his only notable solo effort. Therefore it qualifies as a one hit wonder.

Thank you for getting the name right!Zaia wrote:Sir Mix-a-Lot--"Baby Got Back"
Although Mix-a-Lot is more of a two-hitter. He also did "My Hooptie."
One of my favorites is:
Fu-Schnickens feat. Shaquille O'Neal -- "What's Up Doc?"
Not an armored Jigglypuff
"I salute your genetic superiority, now Get off my planet!!" -- Adam Stiener, 1st Somerset Strikers
*curtseys* No problem.SAMAS wrote:Thank you for getting the name right!Zaia wrote:Sir Mix-a-Lot--"Baby Got Back"
Oh? I don't know that song. There are a couple in my list that I'm not sure are one-hit-wonders anyway, so....oops in advance.Although Mix-a-Lot is more of a two-hitter. He also did "My Hooptie."
Zoink: I think it's actually Dexy's Midnight Runners, by the way.

Everlast isn't really a one-hit wonder. Not only did he do that one song with Santana, but there was also Ends and What It's Like.DG_Cal_Wright wrote:Everlast I guess is a one hit wonder, I can't remember what the song was that he released after that. It did alright. He sang on 'Turn your Lights on' for Santana on Supernatural.
