Hmm, it wouldnt have been much fun if you had to strafe the Star Destroyer a zillion times to bring it down, would it?

Key point, no Star Destroyer has been brought down by a a single starfighter without aid of some "plot device". Please go and read the Rogue Squadron series.

Quite frequently, Wedge says if they encounter Star Destroyers, they'd fire off a volley of torpedoes to keep them off their back, while they run. (Like the rebel cowards that they are).

Read The Bacta War in detail. Quite frequently, the mere threat of an Star Destroyer showing up, forces them to keep torpedoes in reserve. And in the one instance where a X-wing is caught out by a Star Destroyer, it shoots down TIEs while recording, and finally exits the area.

An Starfighter, by it self , CANNOT take down a capital ship. Period.

Note: It's not Lucasarts (the computer/video game division) that decide what is canon/official/out-of-continuality for Star Wars, it's Lucasfilm (the parent company).

Right... so would you mind pointing out where in the movies it is indicated that a single, or even a dozen, starfighter are a serious threat to something like an ISD?
