You have weapons equipped? Yeah it's obvious, but I once tried flying without engines so seems prudent to ask.

Did you put the firing commands back on the ability tray? The skills revamp removed them by default.

What are you using to play with? M/KB, a game pad? If the latter, you'll need to remap the controls.

Yeah, when the HUGE update happened, I had to replace all my items and abilities on the keyboard commands.

It depends if you're planning on crafting any superior/experimental tech upgrades. Hilariously, even at L20 and a purple BOFF there's still a 1% chance that you won't get a critical- the last little bit is only gained by using a catalyst. Luckily neither those nor the salvaged tech needed to craft them are bound so it doesn't matter if it's used by a toon other than the one who created it.

What I used to do was focus each of my characters specialise in a different R&D school so that between all of them I had L20 in each. In time of course I did get them up to L20 just because

So I completed the TOS arc on Tribble this morning. It's very good, and I think a lot of people will enjoy it despite the brevity.

It's a very solid arc and definitely worth your time to play. I'm not a huge TOS fan but I still enjoyed the hell out of it; if you're really into TOS it'll probably be even better for you.

The only real downside is that it's only a starter arc. I'm not going to rag on Cryptic here; clearly this was something they put together for the 50th anniversary rather than a "proper" expansion like Legacy of Romulus or even Delta Rising. That said, it's kind of a disappointment that you only get to fly around in the 23rd century in your crappy little starter ship. The missions are replayable (haven't tried, but the option is there) but I have no idea if you can return to the 23rd century themed Sector Map or ESD. Doubtful - I assume the replay will just have you go to those systems on the 25th century sector map and play from there.

On another note: I can totally see the TOS Starfleet replacing the regular Starfleet faction as a choice. Because unless you're really dedicated to that Fed tutorial and/or Elisa Flores, you're not missing a whole lot by going TOS. It's pretty much standard Fed, but with a fun extra episode arc as well. Plus those nice Temporal Ships, although they might be available to standard Fed Captains; TOS Captains still get the 25th century Starfleet lineup themselves. The only other restriction, then, is in race selection: you can only pick from those that were Fed members back then, so no TOS Ferengi or Bajoran Captains. But we'll have a better handle on that one when it goes live and we see what influence C-store, LTS and other interactions might have on that.

I might very well replace a few of my current Feds with TOS versions for that reason. Since I kind of default to Human or Alien (both are options) anyway, the race limitations aren't an issue. And if I don't have anything especially irreplaceable on them (such as the original FE limited rewards) there's pretty much no downside to it. Plus if I roll them during the Temporal Recruit event I'll have that as well.

There's still like two weeks before the expansion comes out; they may release a few more missions between now and then.

Not being able to go back to the 23rd century is sad, though. :(

I'm like three expansions behind... it's not going to make much difference.

Looks like they ditched the Devidian mission from early on, though. What info on the missions they replaced? Or are those the ones you're talking about?

I was wondering when they would introduce the JJverse in STO.

Extremely predictable.

STO continues to amaze with the depths it will plunge to suck the franchise dry at any opportunity. With the ability to access the JJverse you can gradually expect the game to erode the blocks between them so they can start selling anything they can from the new movie universe.
The way this game has gone, it is hilarious to think when it first launched the idea was to keep to the Star Trek identity. Afterall, it would be silly for a Federation captain to by flying alien ships or for a Constitution Class ship being able to match a Galaxy Class.

They are not allowed to make a T5 Constitution class - but now STO is going to have the movie universe push into the game and I fully expect the eventual selling of those ships. So JJverse Enterprise vs Galaxy class - So much better.

STO loves to take every chance to sell everything it can with fan fiction rip-offs but the gameplay continues to be tediously grindy with limited effort to actually improve it.

They're introducing a new story arc, "Yesterday's War" which is along the same lines, but it'll be available to all factions. Two of them (at least, I haven't been keeping up) are out on Tribble.

They're not replacing anything AFAIK with this expansion, just adding missions.

They did some revamps that took out some of the old missions awhile ago, but the Devidian arc wasn't one of them. For Federation characters it's simply been folded into the Klingon War chain; for KDF and Romulans it's a standalone.

So for those who want to get some TOS into their STO, Agents of Yesterday has officially arrived. Though you might as well wait until the weekend while they get their first few patches out of the way. There's already one scheduled for tomorrow.

He hasn't shown up yet if he wasn't the same guy as the envoy
Spoiler
AKA the former head researcher Noye, who is also the leader of the Kremin faction in the temporal war
.

That said is just me or does the Enterprise-J seem too small?

Also if the Envoy is "Future Guy" we now know why only saw a shadowy figure as the envoy looked like he inspected a warpcore while it was active, I mean he doesn't even remote resemble his former self (in fact he even sounds different).

Next time I do the Procyon IV battle I'll have to see how it compares sizewise. Normally I avoid looking at it unless I absolutely have to

At least the devs amended the summer event so that the Risian birds and monkeys include the new Temporal marks as one of the choices upon trade-in

Well never saw Ent-J from the outside in canon (all we saw was a section of a corridor) however the suplemental material describe it as absolutely huge (something like 9km across or even bigger).

It'd be a dildo with fat-ass warp nacelles, dude. :P

More seriously, I'm not sure if it's possible to create something along those lines with Federation ship parts. You could possibly do it with a Gorn ship. There's not many designs in Trek that have that look of a large elongated body with catamaran nacelles to the side.

What would it rate... mm... large carrier of some sort, I suppose, with lots of turret emplacements.

I've played AoY for sometimes and while I mostly liked it there's few things I wish they had done different 1)not changed the Gorn back into full TOS look, I would have just given them the bug eyes and the TOS outfit 2)the "TOS" version of Tellerites just looks like shit and only vaguely like the orginal TOS mask so I wish they had done that differently.

Also the ridgeless klingons look a bit more silly then before especially the female klingons look like they have a fake tan and too much make up on, in TOS it's not that bad since you can excuse it as limitation of the time/budget but it it would have better if they had just took the ridges off from the regular klinks (and gave them different hairstyles) then fully copying the TOS look.

now so that this doesn't seem like just compaining some good points. the TOS ships look and sound great and exactly like they should. also the writing is reasonbly good and Klingons act mostly like the TOS klinks (a bit more talking about honor and such, but the TOS versions seem like intelligent and dangerous opponents, not honor obsessed brutes like klingons are writen all too often).

I honestly can't say, I haven't run into the Krenim yet. Never got that far with any of my characters before I took a hiatus a while ago.

So, finished the Iconian War story arc. My favourite part: Spoiler
*Immediately after a Dominion fleet warps into the Sol System* "The Iconians have done the impossible - they have united us."
That shit was pretty epic, I have to say.
Yeah, I've always taken the subtext of the Birther movement to be, "The rules don't count here! This is different! HE'S BLACK! BLACK, I SAY! ARE YOU ALL BLIND!?
