Days after the 29-year-old Playboy model body-shamed a naked woman at the gym through Snapchat, the Los Angeles Police Department has launched an official investigation into the incident, ET can confirm.

According to the LAPD, the identity of the woman Mathers photographed is still unknown, and that it was L.A. Fitness who filed the police report on Friday.

A law enforcement source confirms to ET that "the investigation is based on disseminating private images."

L.A. Fitness, where Mathers filmed the woman, told ET earlier on Friday that they would be contacting the police.

"Our written rules are very clear: Cell phone usage and photography are prohibited in the locker rooms. This is not only our rule, but common decency," a spokesperson for the gym said in a statement. "Her behavior is appalling and puts every member at risk of losing their privacy. Her membership has been permanently revoked, at all our health clubs, and law enforcement has been notified."

Mathers photographed the woman in a gym locker room, sending the nude photo out to her followers with the caption, "If I can't unsee this then you can't either."

"Body-shaming" is a very trivializing way to put the. She took a naked photo of someone in a locker room, clearly without asking, and posted it publicly. That's a clear invasion of privacy, and should absolutely be criminal.

I don't disagree, but I get the impression that most people who talk about body-shaming consider it a lot more serious than I (and I'm guessing you) do.

What disturbs me is that this is apparently only a misdemeanor.

Body-shaming is certainly impolite, and our culture could do with an awful lot less of it. What it is not is criminal.

Nothing wrong (legally) with body shaming, but taking naked pictures of people and maliciously posting them on the Internet is only misdemeanor, meanwhile we throw the book at teenagers for sexting dick picks because they are dangerous child pornographers.

This is clearly criminal. No different than any other type of video vouerism. Charge her and make her register as a sex offender.

Yes. If you read the thread, you'll see that what I said was that referring to this as merely "body-shaming" trivializes what is actually a significant invasion of privacy. The behavior of the photograph-taker in this thread is criminal.

But not because it is body shaming. Calling it a body-shaming incident is deceptive when, as you say, the important thing is that somebody was filmed in a changing room without their consent.

Dude... I think pretty much everybody is agreeing with that...
It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.

"The photo was taken as part of a personal conversation with a girlfriend and because I am new to Snapchat I didn't realise I had posted it, and that was a huge mistake."

Translation: "We were just going to make fun about an uggo in private using a picture I took illegally, but I'm such a tech moron, you all found out about it."

She should get a job working for the TSA. Would fit right in.
