Aberfan Disaster: Where a village in Wales lost a generation
It's a photo documentary, so I can't copy and paste it. It's a sad look back at 21/10/1966, where a coal slag tipple collapsed and buried houses and a school full of children.
What horrifies me the most is the dozens of schools and hundreds of communities in WV and KY that live in the shadow of coal slurry ponds, some of which are decades old and still used. How long before one of them breaks, and we once again see disaster?

Yes, I fully agree that the Mining Board was fully accountable for the damage done that day. However, like many mining companies here in WV, they got off scot-free with barely a slap on the wrist for what should have been termed Negligent Homicide.
