Gearing up for GOTV. Been doing menial shit and planning since Thursday. California already has exit polling on absentee voters (questionable, but whatever), and the Democrats appear to be wrecking downballot Republicans. We might repeal the Death Penalty, we will almost certainly legalize weed, and we're about to rent a whole lot of down-ballot seats for two years.

Voted this morning. When I drove to Wawa, a lot of polling places in Gentrification Alley (Fishtown) Philadelphia had long ass lines. Mine around Temple U did too. I have a feeling Hills might outperform her polls in town, if not statewide. This is my third presidential election in the city proper 5th or 6th total, and I've never seen lines like that.
I had a Bill Maher quote here. But fuck him for his white privelegy "joke".

I early voted last week.

I'm pretty much expecting my Facebook to melt down my computer when I open it this morning.

Checked my county's website to confirm that my vote was, indeed, received and accepted.

Nothing to do now but wait and hope.

If Doodle McCheeseface wins, and he'd better not, I would hate to be among the politicians and ambassadors that have to pretend to like him and shake his hand just to keep relations with the US OK. They did a poll in Norway, and 80% would rather have Clinton than Trump. Not quite that many think she would do a great job, but at least better than Trump.

I like the Norwegian word for cheese doodle: Ostepop. It's one of those words that are a bit funny to say. Trump reminds me of an Evil Cheese Doodle (Ond Ostepop).

I have heard just dozens of one-liners from various news and media personalities up here about the "expected sudden influx of Americans looking to move to Canada", with jokes about whether we're about to get a horde of angry Trumpies or terrified Bernie Bros.

Nah, it wouldn't primarily be the hard core Bernie or Buster crowd (I refuse to use the term "Bernie Bro" as it was basically designed as a slur to paint Bernie supporters as sexists).

A lot of the really hard core Bernie or Bust people would probably be happy that Trump won instead of Clinton, because they're often not really progressives who agree with Bernie on policy or have any loyalty to either him or his policies- they're just anti-establishmentarians or just anti-Clinton, and don't much care how they beat Clinton/the establishment or what the consequences are. Or that's my impression of them, in any case.

It would more likely be women and minorities who would face greatly increased discrimination, now with the enthusiastic support of the federal government. And possibly left wing/anti-Trump journalists and politicians, if Trump's "lock her up" and crack down on the press policies are anything to go by. Those would be the people with the most reason to leave.

And I doubt a Trumper would want to move to a country with socialist medicine, run by Justin Trudeau.

Voted this morning at my sons' elementary school. Polls opened at 7 am. Pulled in at 6:55 and there were 200 people ahead of me. Well organized with 5 check in stations and 20 voting booths, but only one scanner. Was in and out in half an hour. I have to say I was surprised at such heavy turnout so early in the morning in an exurban voting district . I stared at the ballot for a full 2 minutes before I was physically able to will my pen to the space next to Hillary Clinton's name, swallowed the bile in the back of my throat and pulled the trigger.

I'd have preferred the Bern, of course, but I can live with Hillary.

I did enjoy some of the ballot measures I got to vote on. And I like my Congressman fine.

Voted a nearly-straight Working Families Party ticket (HRC in other words). My polling place, a firehouse that's usually very quiet, was pretty busy today. I actually had to wait in line, which was a first.

Bwahhaha... apparently when the orange fascist went to vote, he was greeted at the polling place by topless protesters (I hope he didn't try to grope them) and boos.

There's already a lawsuit filed in Nevada regarding the latino early voting at the supermarket.

Will this lawsuit get anywhere? As far as I've read, they are allowed to keep it open as long as there is a line. That the GOP is suing because the polling station only closed two hours after normal closing time because of how many people wanted to vote, is stupid.

Insofar as the interview on tv went it's not about what you state so much as whether the back person in line let people in front of them and who should've been allowed to vote. Nobody on the tv has a clue what the lawsuit actually says and only what Trump's person is telling them. So. Grain of salt.

Personally, I'm a Clinton supporter and my Canadian Immigration plans are entirely contingent on her victory. Fleeing to Austria in 1932 was about as helpful as fleeing to Canada in the event of a Trump victory would be. Our in is that the wife has family in Canada and is on the list of careers that qualify for express entry, so the instant someone close to her has a line on a graphic design job they're having trouble filling, she can get in and we can flee to a country with a humane approach to those in need within and without.

I'm probably not going to be the world's best Canadian, too much of an American asshole, but it's something to strive for and maybe my son will be. His grandparents are set on him being the first (half-)Asian American President, but maybe they'll settle for first(?) Asian Canadian prime minister? :-)

I dunno. I really fell in love with the country on our visits to her family. You seem to have your problems, but it felt a bit like staying the night at the kid's house whose parents aren't a mentally ill prescription drug addict and an alcoholic going through a contentious divorce. Which is certainly not something I have experience with...

Trump files Nevada voting lawsuit
Washington (CNN)In a sign that the legal team for the Trump campaign is aggressively laying the groundwork for potential legal challenges -- big and small -- lawyers have gone to state court in Nevada in an early vote dispute.

They are suing Joe P. Gloria, the Clark County registrar of voters, over a decision they allege he made to keep polling locations open "two hours beyond the designated closing time." The lawsuit targets polling places in the greater Las Vegas area that have larger minority voting precincts.

Dan Kulin, a spokesperson for the county, told CNN that no early voting stations extended their closing times. They did, however, process voters who were in line at closing time to allow as many people to vote as possible.

In legal briefs filed Monday night, Trump lawyers are asking for an order to have the pertinent early vote ballots not to be "co-mingled or interspersed" with other ballots.

"From the polling, it appears that Nevada is so close that the Trump campaign thinks it's worth challenging any violation in voting protocol. The numbers that came in could represent several thousand people across the four precincts, which could determine who wins the electoral college vote or change the Senate race," said Robert Lang of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He said the Trump campaign is "smart to put a marker down for a future challenge, considering what happened in 2000 in Florida."

Officials with the Republican National Committee and Trump's campaign declined to further discuss their action with reporters on a conference call early Tuesday afternoon.

Nevada's Republican Party chairman, Michael McDonald, told a Trump audience in Reno on Saturday that polling locations were kept open late so that a "certain group" could vote.

"Last night, in Clark County, they kept a poll open 'til 10 o'clock at night so a certain group could vote," McDonald said in introductory remarks at a Trump rally. "The polls are supposed to close at 7. This was kept open until 10. Yeah, you feel free right now? You think this is a free and easy election? That's why it's important."

Clark County, which includes the suburbs of Las Vegas, has a large Hispanic population and could figure prominently in who wins the White House.
At Saturday's rally, Trump suggested that the polling location's extended closing time to allow voters to cast their ballots was a sign of a "rigged system" pitted against his campaign.

"It's being reported that certain key Democratic polling locations in Clark County were kept open for hours and hours beyond closing time to bus and bring democratic voters in. Folks, it's a rigged system. It's a rigged system and we're going to beat it. We're going to beat it," Trump said.

To make it short, they are implying people who weren't in the line at 7 PM still got to vote. This of course raises the question how they are plannning to prove this accusation. I bet they just want all the votes from that polling station thrown out of the window. Any chance they get through with this?

I like how one of the only times my country gets noticed... is during the US election, where some Americans threaten to leave if they don't get the president they want. And even then we're just seen as some kind of consolation prize :P

I don't see how. From what else I've heard they apparently made the decision early in the day to keep the place open but hell if I can tell you if that matters.

They aren't going to prove it, just throw doubt on it, for their rabid "rigged!" nut-bags. But this also isn't the first "how dare you let darkies the help them vote!" suit against the Nevada Clark County Registrar by these folks.
