I guess the myth of 'justice' really is valued more than consideration for the victim and crime prevention in some legal systems.

Canadian crime stats showed that in the majority of cases, the perp was unable to complete the sex act, for a variety of reasons. Many of them are actually impotent. Rape is not about sex and it's not about pleasure; it's about misogynism and the desire to subjugate/humiliate a woman.

Rapists aren't out for sexual pleasure; they're out to get revenge for some imagined wrong committed by the entire female half of the species.

Or subjugation in general - Male rape, if less common, is usually also a power/humiliation issue. (Which is probably why it happens in prisons - It's a way of humiliating certain prisoners by the others.)

Still, like I said, I doubt castrating rapists would hurt anything, and it might help at least in some cases. Likewise, considering the sexual and extreme nature of their crimes, it seems a suitable punishment regardless.
