Ranking System
Sorry to revive this long-dead thread, but as there seem to be a great many of us on the "Jedi Council," Mike might want to re-look his ranking system...
PS- It looks like that fellow, Needa, last posted in November. Wonder what became of him...

That's not a bad idea, but I was thinking more along the lines of Imperial military rank, like what Grand Admiral Thrawn posted, back in July:Gandalf wrote: How about:

I think more people would go for Jedi based ranks, because, to the casual observer, they have more coolness.jegs2 wrote: That's not a bad idea, but I was thinking more along the lines of Imperial rank, like what Grand Admiral Thrawn posted, back in July

I like the military rank idea more than the current Jedi one, actually.
But then again, I have a custom title, so it's not that it matters to me.

Do you have any idea how long it took me make Padawan!? And now you want to turn me back into a Youngling!?Gandalf wrote:How about:

And look at at that. Conveniantly you would be able to keep your Jedi Knight title. I'm sure that has nothing to do with your revised rankings.....

I say GAT's rating system is good.
I was thinking of something like:
Newbie: 0-50
Youngling: 51-250
Padawan Learner: 251-1000
Jedi Knight: 1001-2000
Jedi Master: 2001-3000
Jedi Council Member: 3001-5000
(Some additional rank): 5000+
But if it means that the board will be down for several hours, I don't think it would be worth it.

I always thought it was funny that we had Jedi titles on an Imperial board. LoL.
How about this, if it could be done that is, have a choice of either light or dark side. Light side, obviously you are Jedi, dark you have Imperial ranks.

Well, to me there are two reasons I like that system:Spanky The Dolphin wrote:I like the military rank idea more than the current Jedi one, actually.

1. I'm in the military, so it appeals to me.
2. There are a great many more ranks, and the top ones have a very high post count requirement
I like that, but how would a person earn Grand Admiral or Emperor?jegs2 wrote: That's not a bad idea, but I was thinking more along the lines of Imperial military rank, like what Grand Admiral Thrawn posted, back in July:

I like the miltal rankings better, but I think it should be modified to where 10000+ is High Admiral rather than 8000+

Those titles would be awarded by Mike (assuming Mike didn't use the Emperor title for himself, which would be fitting, since it is his website).IG-88E wrote: I like that, but how would a person earn Grand Admiral or Emperor?

If you do that, only the top top posters will ever reach the top titles. I think it is better to add user titles rather than make it take longer to get another one.

hehe. To bad that I don't post at stardestroyer.net much anymore. I'll go days with out posting now-a-days. So if that was implemented it would take me just a few years to reach it
