Fox News MiniRant

Post by Stravo »

I was watching Fox News this morning get ready for work and the weather for Iraq came on. The weatherman reported that weather over Iraq would be clear for the next three days....then turns right to the camera and with a big shit eating grin says: "Just what the doctor ordered for our troops and should make operations easier for our airforce."

Look, I'm a supporter of this war as most of you know and I generally like the coverage I get from Fox, CNN and ABC. BUT this is a WEATHERMAN. I fully expect to hear raa raa journalism from the likes of Geraldo Rivera who is one of these journalists that look so ridiculous when he casually drops military jargon as if he were a soldier himself, and Sean Hannity, and O'Reilly, etc. I EXPECT these pundits to take a raa raa position and then there are those who are slightly skeptical, notably the Vietnam era journalists who as usual are looking at this war throough that lense (incorrectly or correctly that's a topic for another thread)

BUT I don't want or need to see Weathermen tell me that this is just what the doctor ordered for our troops. Seriously, he's a FUCKING WEATHERMAN, stick to Highs and Lows and Cold fronts asshole. I don't want to hear your raa raa bullshit.

Can anyone else add to this, I'm NOT talking about journalists putting a pro war slant on things, I'm talking about journalists who SHOULDN'T because of their position or specialty. Like if the Sports guy says: "Boy that San Diego offense cut through the defensive lines like the 3rd ID cut through the Republican Guard." That's FUCKING UNNECCESSARY. How would we like it if a weatherman on Al-Jazeera reported: "Sandstorms and high winds for the next three days..." turns to the camera and with a big shit eating grin says "Allah sent weather for the belleagured Iraqi defenders."

You know you would have a caniption. So, thats my minirant. Sorry if I wasted your time with this but it just really irked the shit out of me this morning.
Wherever you go, there you are.

This sort of reminds me of the way the elite media talking heads
are whinging about how "embedded" reporters don't have any
objectivity at all :P

Not that anyone can blame them for that, of course...

Unneccessary, yes, but it would be rather amusing...

Wolf Blitzers career was made by the first Gulf War, he was just a remote piece talking head until CNN sent everyone and their grandmother to Saudi Arabia for GWI. It was the name that didi it, in connection with a War everyone remembered Blitzer, his reporting was pretty good to boot. And after the war he cashed in at CNN HQ in Atlanta. Quite unlike Arthur "SCUD Stud" Kent, who now does voice overs for the History Channel......

The rah-rah on Fox News is getting a little grating. At least don't be so blatent about it.

Aurther Ken't new carrer as a voiceover guy has more to do, i think, with him freaking out like a little bitch during a SCUD attack. War reporters can't lose their cool like that.

I guess that's true. FOX News is so conservative, even their weather reporters are blatanly biased. What's next, will the reporters covering sports bring up the war?

Funny would be John Madden and Pat Summerall illustrating the battle with telestrator

Madden: "Now here's a guy that just doesn't wanna get shot, so look here up goes the white flag...Oh now wait a minute he dropped the flag and he's pulling out a gun."

Summerall:"That's a defensive penalty John."

Madden: "Yes it is Pat, now as you can see here, those are defantely bullets coming from that gun."

Summerall:" Still no flag from the official...oh, wait here comes the napalm John."

Madden: "Yeah, what a great turnaround by the offense, that defender is toast"

Actual quote from a Pats / Steelers game. Applies to the war.

Madden: "This game was won in the trenches, Pat. No doubt about it."

Summerall: "Yep, those big boys really got the job done."

Thank God for the clear weather so we can kill the sand monkeys!

Thank Allah for the sandstorms so we can kill the great infadel!
