Need Some Assistance Locating Post-Apocalypse Movie

Post by Ishida Ayumi »

Hello everyone! Saw a Mad Max-style movie back in the late 70s/early 80s, I'm trying to find but I can not remember it's name! Here are some things I recall about it:

1. I think there had been some environmental disaster and there was little food.

2. The three main protagonists were a guy, a girl and an Army dude who looked like Santa Claus and had an Uzi.

3. They were chased by a gang of bad guys. I don't know why though.

4. The good guys link up with a group based on a beached ship. There is a fight with the bad guys at the ship.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

My guess:
Ravagers (1979)

The title appears to be the most exciting part of the movie.

Though when you (O.P.) said little food, my first thought was "A Boy and His Dog" with a very young Don Johnson, hilarious in its own right, the survivors thought nothing of cannibalism. The Ending, the first time I saw it, couldn't stop laughing until the end of the credits and only a handful of other patrons got it.

Can't say I recall it, but I know the feeling. I can remember this one scene from a movie I saw when I was no older than 7 (1984). I've wondered for years what the film was but never succeed in locating it.

Heh. Found this little gem:

You could copy/paste into excel and filter, if you remember the genre, I suppose....

edit: I'm going to assume there are obsessive fans doing the same for Australia....

@Kojiro
Harlan Ellison wrote the original book IIRC of unconnected stories, though the movie makers concentrated on the one character.

can this topic be turned into "looking for old / lost sci fi movies " ??

I have two films that i rememer from my childhood

1. one is about soem guy and a woman on some frost world and they are trying to get to some space ship in a hangar and when they reach the hangar there are little probes that stick out of the earth and scan stuff.. There is later a scene where they get to the ship and somethng gets burned by the engine blast. This movie i saw 20 years ago

2. Second movie has some buffed muscular girl wandering around a waste land in californa type sunny weather and she is stalked by some invisibel robot/something , they do battle near a water ( lake / river)

these two are probably some B class sci fi's but they got inprinted in my childhood memory ...

if anyone knows what im talking about it would be nice ... :D

The first movie sounds a bit like Screamers starring Peter Weller. Its been forever since I saw that movie but I remember there being little robots in the ground and I think it was set on a ice planet.

The second movie definitely sounds like Nemesis 2 starring Sue Price. The whole Nemesis series is some gloriously cheesy sci-fi starring ridiculously muscular people including surprisingly a female body builder for the later movies. Kinda devolves into soft-core porn for all the sequels so be warned. Also you get to see a young Thomas Jane's bait and tackle in the first one.

Oh man, Screamers. That was a good one. Many nightmares were had, even rewatching in my 20s.

And "Boy and his Dog" is pretty terrible, but I liked it. Dug it up as a precursor watch when looking into the origins of the Fallout series.

I was going to post and ask about a movie, "Cherry" something. Turns out I remember Melanie Griffith was in it. Found it on imdb "Cherry 2000." Has one of my favorite lines:

"You guys want some sandwiches?"
"Lester's dead."
"Well then, no sandwiches for him."

It's not a great movies as far as I remember. Some rich dude in a semi-rundown 2017 (ha!) has a sexbot/companion bot. Sexbot breaks, he wants the same (discontinued) model so he hires Griffith to get him to an abandoned facility. Bad guys try and stop them for reasons.
