My Mom has Cancer

Post by Zor »

I just got the bad news. My has been diagnosed with cancer in her left leg. Moreover it's a type of cancer which is not easily treated and won't respond to chemo. She had some issues in her leg recently, but they thought it was blood clots and they got those sorted out before this bad news came in.

This is horrible.

Sorry to hear about your mom, Zor. It is a one-two punch no one should receive. I will hope they do not have to amputate it.
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

That fucking sucks, man. Just try to stay positive. I know that sounds pompous and douchey, but take it from me, if your mind dwells in dark places it will eat you up inside and you won't be able to offer the hope and strength she needs to kick this shit in the balls. I'll keep you both in my thoughts, if that's any comfort.

No problem. My mom has Lupus, and while it's nowhere near cancer, it's bad enough. I can only barely imagine the hell you're going through and wish you and your mom the best of luck.

My deepest sympathies, Zod. Earlier this year my mom was diagnosed with leukemia, and it was a rough spot for a while there. I have someone I was able to sit and talk with (and just sit with me as I cried), and I hope you do as well.

I hope it turns out for the best and that she responds well to whatever treatments are available.

My Mom has beaten cancer seven times now, if that's any encouragement. Good luck.

And now for the Bad News I hoped i would not have to give you.

She had a test done recently. she had an operation that was successful of removing the cancer from her posterior. The problem was that it had spread to her lungs and they don't think they can do anything about it. We don't have a time frame, but it's terminal.

What a way to ruin a lovely day.

I'm so sorry. But now that I'm where you were (my mom got lucky, they got the tumor and it spread to one lymph node so she had chemo and is starting radiation next week) I know how it feels and where you are now is still my biggest fear.

I hope they keep her comfortable and that you get the most out of the time she has left.

Other than that, I don't know what to say.

Condolences. I'm sure she did something good, so that's worth celebrating.

I'm so sorry to hear that.

I hope you can make her remaining time meaningful and comfortable.

Best wishes to you both.

I don't want to be too repetitive and echo everyone else, but that is horrible. I really can't imagine it. It's probably up there in my list of fears.

Really sucks to lack anything better than that. I don't want to say anything trite or cliche. I won't waste your time with that bullshit anyway. Sorry. We can be here for you, I guess.

That sucks. Cancer is insidious in trope defining way. But all you can do is keep living, keep doing things as long as you can.

My Mom has cancer right now, also. She's pretty much always got cancer; we've all just gotten used to it. She's fought like a champ, but something will eventually kill her. It sucks, but she isn't immortal. Something will kill me, too. I'm hoping for a dramatic explosion.

My sympathies Zor. Met's to the lungs is something you don't wanna hear. Is she coping well? All you can do is try your best to support her in this terrible time.
